Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesnít end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness. Columbus in early and mid kettle.
** This beer will now feature different hops in the massive dry hop every year.
2014 - Sorachi Ace, Mosaic, and Chinook. Incredibly complex mix of lemon zest, pineapple, red berries, peach, and a hint of dank earthiness.

355 ml can, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10.0%. Orange colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely aroma of piney hops, smells like a pine forest, also some fruity notes (oranges). The flavour is a massive attack of fruity and piney American hops, fairly light bodied and dry for its strength.

Really good imperial IPA. Itís different, but in a good way. At 10% it was very enjoyable. I was surprised to learn it was Summit hops. It finished clean and left me wanting more.

Wow. This beer is an experience. An experience I donít ever want to have again. Bought a 4 pack for the discounted price of 10.99 and I still feel like I got ripped off. This beer kinda smells like pot. But if I wanted to smell good pot Iíd just walk into my apt. Flavor is a big mess and after a few weeks it turns into hardcore garlic, onions, sweetness, and pretty much an undrinkable mess. Iíd rather drink Bud heavy in a can.

Crystal clear amber/gold with tiny off-white head. Scent is moderately sweet, with the piney hop scent. Taste is sweet and bitter, very good, with a bit of booze warming. Nice!

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2010 Orangish/yellow pour. Cannabis, hops, honey, alcohol, and caramel malt. Flavor is dank and a bit hot. Sweet malt, tropical fruit, and hops. Not my favorite. Overrated.

Bottle at Chris Oís. Straw colour with a white head. Citrus and hops in the nose. Nice fresh fruity smell. Flavours of peaches, tropical fruit, apricots. Smooth. Very nice hop kick. Sharp hoppy, fruity finish. Refreshing.

On tap at the Midway. A very entertaining drink. Totally took me by surprise with the gooey sticky caramel malt and thick resin and pine hop profile. An intense orange peel type aroma. Big fruit flavors so intense they almost come through like a rich cherry. A bit of a combination of the sweetness of the malt and citrus hops makes a very interesting fruit flavor. Iím calling it rich cherry but thatís not a great description. The finish is sticky pine bitterness and a nice sweetness stays with you for a while. Not overly cloying but present and enjoyable. The price here is a little much so I donít think Iíll get this one again but it was tasty.
