COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn’t end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness.

poured at the 14th annual CO Brewers’ Rendezvous. from a can. copper-colored with a fairly thin off-white head. fizzy. intense, bracing hop aroma, but not raspy, with a clean, bitter finish. nice, and well worth your time if you’re looking for a standard, go-to hop head beer in a can, but one down from the Greenade that poured at the festival a few booths down.

Can. Thick white head, dissipates fast, some lacing. Clear, golden in color. Aroma floral, doughy, alcohol. Tastes very bitter with warming alcohol, light malt balance, and a dry finish. An all around excellent imperial IPA for fans of the style.

Gubna pours a rich copper clear with a faint head of small white bubbles. Nose is rich in pine needles. Taste is initially a bit faint, but mid swallow it broadens into pine hops with a kick of honey which resolves into cedar on the finish. nice lingering bitters. very solid IPA

Draft poured golden hue w/ white head. Big hop aroma. This is my kind of IPA a strong malt backbone with a flavorful hop a moderate bitter finish. Lovely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours as it should with a copper orange color and a frothy head that leaves an intricate lacing. Aroma of citrus and hops. Taste is a tad on the bitter side but still close to balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A little disappointed in this one -- does not hide its massive ABV (10%!) well. Cloudy pour with a beautiful IPA bouquet. Taste to me is first alcohol. Once I get beyond that, solid malt base, with nice hop characteristics. But then the booziness reasserts itself. This would've been a home run at 8%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at Mad Mex. Poured darker orange with a finger of head. Strong sweet light citrus aromas. Quite smooth everlasting hop flavors. Sticks around well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Darker gold with creamy, white head / Muted nose of candied sugar, pine, citrus / Full body, creamy, chewy, very sweet with some hop bite, and good bitterness on the finish, lurking under the big body / Flavors of pine, resin, candied sugar, / Not bad, more sort of clumsy.

(2/2012) can. Orange, cloudy, thick. Fresh, but malty aroma. Orange, citrus, a bit of sweet malts. Excellent balance, just bitter enough for the thickness but not so it would destroy the drinkability.

Can at home. Pours a clear copper with minimal head. Aroma of pine with a touch of citrus. Taste is as bitter as expected but with a sweet finish that compliments but doesn’t quite balance the bitterness - like Deviant Dales, it lingers. Delicious offering from a terrific brewery.

A - Pours a hazy light copper. A frothy 1.5 finger white head hardly moves and finally creates a thin solid head of tight bubbles. Excellent horizontal lacing at the top and bottom. S - Candy oranges, mango, pineapple, star fruit, strawberries, sweet malt, yeast, pine resin, lemon grass, sticky caramel, slight alcohol. T - Bigtime hop flavor! Pungent pineapple, mango, melon, over-ripened tangerine, sugar coated lemon rind. A butterscotch malt comes in and mellows everything out. Finishes out sweet and bitter. M - Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation, a bit chewy at times. A fantastically juicy hoppy Imperial! What more could you ask for? This thing is bursting with fruit flavor!!!! This sugary malt, bitter citrus, glorious tropical beer is almost perfect. It could use more bitterness, but other than that it is a fantastic DIPA! Serving type: can 03-07-2011
