COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesnít end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness. Columbus in early and mid kettle.
** This beer will now feature different hops in the massive dry hop every year.
2014 - Sorachi Ace, Mosaic, and Chinook. Incredibly complex mix of lemon zest, pineapple, red berries, peach, and a hint of dank earthiness.

12oz. can. Pale yellow and transparent, with an active head on the pour. The head fades fairly quickly and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is mostly citrus with some resinous pine in the background. Taste is mostly citrus, grapefruit and tangerine, and overpoweringly so, as it really wreaks havoc on the palate. Perhaps the Summit hops are not to my taste, but this seems overdone. Thereís not enough behind the bitterness to carry it properly, especially onto the back of the tongue for the finish. Itís kind of like POP! and youíre done. Itís an ok brew, but for OB repeats, itís still Ten-Fidy and Gordon.

Clear golden. Awesome strong and ballanced brew. Aroma, same as taste - fruity, hopy, well ballanced with nice bitterness, also ABV is high and manly. Liked it.

Exceptional IPA. Like crazy delicious. The aroma is just massive pineapple and soft tropical fruits. A little sweetness from the malts. Taste is just insanely good. Tons of pineapple right at the front of the tongue followed by more soft fruit and massive hop bitterness. A little sweetness from the malt but a tropical forward imperial IPA. Super fresh. Iíve had it out of the can and in the can and personally I think itís better in the can. It keeps all the hop oils and really makes it just punch you in the face. So good.

From a can at ALEhouse, RIga. Pours hazy orange, something how imperial IPAís should look like. Aroma is fruity, melons, a bit of skunky hops, tropical fruits. dragon-fruit? Taste is also quite sweet and very fruity. Doesnít really reveal the high alcohol content that it actually has. Bitterness is there and it stays - but as it is well balanced with a strong body, it doesnít really feeI too much. I started my evening with this beer, not sure how to go on as the taste is quite intense and next beers would probably taste like water... Good brew that embodies a classical American DIPA for me.

A double at its finest! This beer presents with a soft and billowy head topping a hazy and light gold brew. The lacing is thick, in sheets on the sides of the glass. It is three months old and the age shows, but the quality comes through. I can tell this is not totally fresh, but the taste is still quite hoppy, and the citrus is still quite pungent without being acidic or astringent. Berry warmness infiltrates the grassy aroma and lays out over the back of my tongue. The body is average, a little sticky and very DIPA. If you know what I mean. Loving this, but really looking forward to a fresher version. Will be looking for it again!

Not bad for the beer in a can. Sweet malty and hoppy this is a perfect beer for a sunny afternoon. Not too light but not too dark either. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Love the change of dry hopping in 2014. Very fresh aroma with a hint of maltiness. Great pineapplenotes up front with a spicy finish. Better than the last time I had it.

Wow!!! One of the best smelling beers out there. So much hops!! Great beer if you are a hop head if not try this one to see what hops really can do for a beer! Great!

Light copper, almost yellow. Tons of citrus and slight pungent hop aroma (thank you for using SUMMIT!) Flavor is tropical fruits, super summit spice, and lots of bitterness. Subtle honey sweetness when balanced with the heavy hops. Great stuff.

Can. Clear golden color, medium white head working down to a thin lacing. Citrus and floral dominate the aroma. Sweet citrus and berry fruit taste. Medium-thin body, sticky texture, long & dry bitter finish. Nice double IPA.
