COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesnít end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness. Columbus in early and mid kettle.
** This beer will now feature different hops in the massive dry hop every year.
2014 - Sorachi Ace, Mosaic, and Chinook. Incredibly complex mix of lemon zest, pineapple, red berries, peach, and a hint of dank earthiness.

12 oz can into a pint glass. A: Pours a light copper color. This features a nice head, about two fingers high and off-white colored. The retention is quite strong given its gravity, and the texture is nice and fluffy. S: Itís dank as fuck - this really brings back memories of Devil Dancer. But thereís also a lot of malt sweetness to it, as well. On the other hand, I seem to note a lot of alcohol, unfortunately. This one could really go any way in the flavor profile... T: Much sweeter than what the nose indicated. It opens with a lot of caramel, toffee, and dark fruit sweetness. Alcohol is prevalent but not remotely harsh, however it is pretty intrusive. Dank, resiny hops (and yes, even some onion) are only a subtle backing to all of the malt sweetness. Ah well, itís not exactly fresh, so I canít complain too much. M: Sweet, but not that heavy - or even that resinously bitter, really. Given its sweetness, itís pretty easy to down for a 10% DIPA. It could use a bit more carbonation to help cleanse the finish better. O: Iíll have to re-try this one fresh. Itís pretty much turned into a World-Class Barleywineô at only three months, only with "Sweet and Simplistic" replacing the "World-Class" part.

2014/08/24 - Pours a translucent orange-amber colour with a thick, foamy white head that quickly reduces to a lingering surface film. Lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet tropical fruits, citrus, honey and mild pine. Taste follows nose; pineapple, tropical fruits, citrus rind, honey, mild pine and moderately spicy hops. Body is medium to thick and sticky with smooth carbonation and a finish that is both juicy and bitter. Really enjoyed the tropical fruits in this DIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden. Awesome strong and ballanced brew. Aroma, same as taste - fruity, hopy, well ballanced with nice bitterness, also ABV is high and manly. Liked it.

Exceptional IPA. Like crazy delicious. The aroma is just massive pineapple and soft tropical fruits. A little sweetness from the malts. Taste is just insanely good. Tons of pineapple right at the front of the tongue followed by more soft fruit and massive hop bitterness. A little sweetness from the malt but a tropical forward imperial IPA. Super fresh. Iíve had it out of the can and in the can and personally I think itís better in the can. It keeps all the hop oils and really makes it just punch you in the face. So good.

From a can at ALEhouse, RIga. Pours hazy orange, something how imperial IPAís should look like. Aroma is fruity, melons, a bit of skunky hops, tropical fruits. dragon-fruit? Taste is also quite sweet and very fruity. Doesnít really reveal the high alcohol content that it actually has. Bitterness is there and it stays - but as it is well balanced with a strong body, it doesnít really feeI too much. I started my evening with this beer, not sure how to go on as the taste is quite intense and next beers would probably taste like water... Good brew that embodies a classical American DIPA for me.

A double at its finest! This beer presents with a soft and billowy head topping a hazy and light gold brew. The lacing is thick, in sheets on the sides of the glass. It is three months old and the age shows, but the quality comes through. I can tell this is not totally fresh, but the taste is still quite hoppy, and the citrus is still quite pungent without being acidic or astringent. Berry warmness infiltrates the grassy aroma and lays out over the back of my tongue. The body is average, a little sticky and very DIPA. If you know what I mean. Loving this, but really looking forward to a fresher version. Will be looking for it again!

Not bad for the beer in a can. Sweet malty and hoppy this is a perfect beer for a sunny afternoon. Not too light but not too dark either. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Love the change of dry hopping in 2014. Very fresh aroma with a hint of maltiness. Great pineapplenotes up front with a spicy finish. Better than the last time I had it.

Light copper, almost yellow. Tons of citrus and slight pungent hop aroma (thank you for using SUMMIT!) Flavor is tropical fruits, super summit spice, and lots of bitterness. Subtle honey sweetness when balanced with the heavy hops. Great stuff.
