COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn’t end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness. Columbus in early and mid kettle.
** This beer will now feature different hops in the massive dry hop every year.
2014 - Sorachi Ace, Mosaic, and Chinook. Incredibly complex mix of lemon zest, pineapple, red berries, peach, and a hint of dank earthiness.

Can: I wish more quality craft beer was available in a can. Just one hop, impressive. Food Pairing: Sharp Cheddar, this one will cut right though the oily greasiness.

can - 2014 vintage - funked up sorachi et al. pours unclear bright golden with a tall creamy white head, excellent retention and very nice lacing. coconuty pineapple, danky citrus, peaches in syrup, fresh sweet lightly spicy breadiness, grass, pepper, warming alcohol - doesn’t feel that boozy, appreciable sweetness - honey and tasty golden corn syrup. light carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, sweet and very fragrant coconut-piney-spicy-citrusy finish. much appreciated alongside my burger with the missus. never tasted previous vintages, but i’m guessing this is the most unique and should definitely be repeated!

A most excellent beer. Its smoothness belies the high ABV count. In growler from growlerguys at Bend OR

12 oz can from New Seasons Market in Hillsboro, OR. Surprising light in color. Aroma is floral, with strong hints of citrus and tropical fruits. It kind of reminds me of limoncello or Lemonheads candy. Mouthfeel is crisp, with a long, slightly bitter finish. Not a lot of residual sugars from the malt, which allows the hops to make a much brighter appearance. I have a very hard time believing that this is 10% ABV. Strange beer, but certainly delicious.

Poured from a 12oz can. Poured a fairly light and very cloudy amber. Aroma did not give off much hints as what was going to happen. Taste was surprisingly sweet, hoppy, and flavorful. I got a piney, yet sweet with hints of vanilla and oak flavor. The bitter aftertaste lasts all day, but is balanced very well!

2014/08/24 - Pours a translucent orange-amber colour with a thick, foamy white head that quickly reduces to a lingering surface film. Lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet tropical fruits, citrus, honey and mild pine. Taste follows nose; pineapple, tropical fruits, citrus rind, honey, mild pine and moderately spicy hops. Body is medium to thick and sticky with smooth carbonation and a finish that is both juicy and bitter. Really enjoyed the tropical fruits in this DIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden. Awesome strong and ballanced brew. Aroma, same as taste - fruity, hopy, well ballanced with nice bitterness, also ABV is high and manly. Liked it.

Exceptional IPA. Like crazy delicious. The aroma is just massive pineapple and soft tropical fruits. A little sweetness from the malts. Taste is just insanely good. Tons of pineapple right at the front of the tongue followed by more soft fruit and massive hop bitterness. A little sweetness from the malt but a tropical forward imperial IPA. Super fresh. I’ve had it out of the can and in the can and personally I think it’s better in the can. It keeps all the hop oils and really makes it just punch you in the face. So good.
