3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at the brewpub. Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Hoppy aroma, bitter and clean, with nice malt notes. Taste is creamy and bitter, of pine hops and roasted malt. Lingering creamy bitterness. Nice black IPA.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Bittercreek. Pours muddy black with very thin head, normal roast grain and hop aromas. Grains take over a bit in the taste, providing that stout/porter essence, until some hops kick in on the finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Bittercreek.. Pours the expected black with a short lived brownish head that produced a decent enough lacing... West Coast pithy hops with a nice smack of roast and a light body... Balanced toward the hops, but nothing gets overwhelming making for a very drinkable brew.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I’m a big fan of black IPA’s due to their fantastic color and appeal as well as their nicely balanced dark malts and hoppy flavors. This beer was no exception and it went down a bit too easily.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On Tap at Bier:30, Boise. Deep dark brown, with a thin mocha head. Lots of roasted bitterness that kept some of the hoppy IBUs down a bit. Ful heavy pallatte, a big obnoxious BIPA

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Bier 30. Black pour with an light brown head. This guy was a burnt bitter bomb that was thin on my palate. Not my favorite in one of my favorite styles.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out a dark brown almost black topped with a small tan head. Nose is pine citrus roast malts and some black licorice. Taste is as the nose with a nice roast and plenty good hop combo.

On tap at Mr. Goodbar in Buffalo, NY. I’d never heard of this before. Very solid, huge hop flavor, surprising for the style. Not nearly as sweet as too many black IPAs that I’ve had in the past. Didn’t really have a lot of the roasty qualities that you often get from the style. Emphasis should be placed on the IPA in the description.
