3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 kyzr (1140) - Belgrade, Montana, USA - SEP 17, 2008
Brown pour with a small tan head. Sweet and toasty nose. Flavor is a little more complex than I expected. Has hints of chocolate, nuts and caramel. Medium body with great mouthfeel and texture.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 3fourths (6219) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 16, 2008
Draft @ the brewery. Lightly hazed brown body with a tan, patchy, thick head. Nose of rich toast, chocolate malt, cocoa powder... very bready and doughy, dusty even. Flavor is rich and pasty cocoa (dry), chocolate malt, toasted bread, nutmeg, light touch of almonds/amaretto, even some vanilla. Complex, well-made, satisfying and impressive for a brown ale. Smooth, silky body.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerheart (237) - Erie, Colorado, USA - JUL 6, 2008
"One Nut Brown Ale" at the restaurant. I’m not a big fan of brown ales. They need to grow up and decide to be porters or stouts. That said, this is a well-brewed example of the style. It was creamy, with toffee, brown sugar and a bit of hop to it.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Crosling (1861) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - JUN 30, 2008
Draught @ Oskar Blues. Lots of character for a brown. Ruby brown color. Long lasting foam. Creamy texture and very mouth filling. Roast and toast character with hints of toffee, fruits and brown sugar, which leads into a dry, hoppy finish. Fairly nice nose as well. It’s a high quality, well made brown.

Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a white head. Aroma is roasty, slightly nutty, and a hint of hops. Flavor is malty, nutty, roasty, and a bitter hoppy finish.

Poured a reddish amber color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, nuts, some roast, and a bit of smoke as well. Taste of sweet toffee, caramel, nuts, chocolate, and light roasted malts as well.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 BREWMUSKCLES (1611) - New Jersey, USA - APR 2, 2007
well its just not my type of beer. brown like a shot of whiskey. no hop flavor, no real malt base. kinda like a washed out rye. i guess i could dream something up on my tastebuds but i doubt it would be coming from the beer.
