Aromas of earthy, floral, and grassy hops. Clear, pale gold with a fairly lasting, white head. Dry, earthy, and with a snappy bitterness. Light, crisp, and refreshing, finishing with clean, spicy, earthy hops.

Aroma is perfectly harmless pils. Good fresh grassy hop profile. Pours yellow with a big frothy head. Taste is fresh and grassy but there is some metallic finish that is unwelcome. Overall fresh and good.

Had this one pretty late at a beer festival so my comments may not be very valid. Overall I thought it was a decent beer with a nice malt backbone and little hop character.

Poured a clear, bright yellow with a medium white foamy head. The head reduced to about an inch with a slightly creamy top. There were plenty of carbonation bubbles rising up in the glass. The head eventually became just a film, but left some nice lacing. The aroma was bready, grassy and just a hint of lemon citrus. The initial taste was crisp and the beer had good carbonation and a mild hops bite. The flavor was predominately of malt and bread with a citrus hops bite on the end

From tap. Pours a golden yellow color with a fat soapy head that lingers. Aroma was mild with a malty pilsner aroma with a hint of banana. Taste follows but on the mild side for a pilsner. Very drinkable and clean.

I poured a 12oz can into a footed pilsner glass. It was canned on 3/11/13 making it two months and two days old.

Appearance: A bright, banana-skin yellow hue. The body is mostly clear but with a slight haze. Plenty of carbonation visible. Forms a large, white, fluffy/soapy head which retains and laces extremely well.

Smell: Not unlike most pilsners of the general style with a typical pale malt aroma. Perhaps additional grass character. Mild overall.

Taste: There’s a lot of beers that I want to like more than I actually do, and Oskar Blues Mama’s Little Yella Pils is a perfect example. It’s an all-malt pilsner that conforms to its style well, but just isn’t all that exciting of a beer. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with it, but more flavor would be nice.

This beer has a more pronounced malt character than most American pilsners. It’s a fairly clean taste overall, which is nice, especially since there’s no adjunct character to cause for distraction. There does seem to be noticeable dryness throughout with a starchy/grainy character of biscuits and crackers . The spicy Saaz hops give it a touch of black pepper, but nothing in the way of true hop flavor. It’s better than the macro adjunct lagers for sure, but has a ways to go to truly impress me.

Drinkability: Pilsners were meant to be clean and refreshing and in the case of Oskar Blues Mama’s Little Yella Pils, I’d say the former is true but the later is not. The starch-like character to this body prevents it from being as refreshing as it could be (it is refreshing while in the mouth). The drinking process is easy, though. The body is not noticeably thin or fizzy, but does have clean, light, wet feeling to it. At 5.3% ABV it’s a tad heavier than it probably needs to be, but is still a light enough beer that most drinkers would be able to handle it in larger quantities no problem.

Had on tap in a pint glass. Pours a clear medium gold with a one finger white head. Aroma of wet grass and hay with a little bit of corn thrown in. A nice noble hop aroma is pleasant but a bit weak. Grass and corn flavor with more behind it than the aroma. A nice sharp hob bitterness along with a nice cris clean mouthfeel and quick finish. Overall, a nice but pretty basic pils. Really doesn’t quite stand up to the likes of Pilsner Urquell or Budvar in my opinion.

The good things about this beer are it’s color and palate. It’s a rather lovely clear yellow for a pilsner being neither too bright nor too pale. The mouth feel is great with plenty of carbonation that lasts throughout the pint. However the hops only present through the nose and then only slightly. There is that hint of floral dryness but the body of this beer is lacking. While nice for an afternoon in a hot beer garden it is nothing spectacular.

Can from Boca Raton. Yellow hazy pour with thick white head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma of fruit, biscuit and grains. Taste is mild with biscuit, buttered hops, light floral notes and mild malts. Refreshing and light.

Tap. Pour is hazy yellow with a small white head and decent lacing. Straw, biscuit, light grass, a touch of bread, spicy hops, and earthy aroma. Taste is doughy, grassy, somewhat yeasty, sweet, noble hops, straw, bready, and light weed with a light bitter finish. Light body with high carbonation. Not bad
