The pilseners are not usually my favorite style, but I had enough faith in Oskar Blues to give this one a try. I’m glad I did, since this beer is much more solid in the mouth, maltier, and better tasting than most pilseners. Very crisp and clean.

Can. Aroma of lemon and coriander. Some metalllic from the aluminum can. Yellow body with white head. Decent lemon zest flavor with some clove. A little stale at times but decent beer on the palate.

Does anyone else shiver when they hear the term "American Pilsner"? This is the best American Pilsner that I am aware of, but it still doesn’t hold a candle to the European variety.
I wish the finish was a little crisper.

12 oz can from Oak Tree. Pours a clear glden straw thin body with an ample foamy white head that settles slowly with lots frothiness and lacing. Aroma has some vegtable notes, grass, dry grainy cereal, slight pepper. Flavor is grainy with notes of grass and pepper. If they could improve the aroma on this a touch by getting rid of those vegtable notes this could move up quite a bit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Growler filled at Huntington Superstar and consumed the same evening. Pours a crystal clear gold with a thin-moderate white head that disappeared after two sips and left no lace. The aroma is very light with a few wisps of floral hops in the nose and that’s about it. The flavor is mild malt followed by some light hops bitterness. A bit of light breadiness emerges in the aftertaste. A problem-free beer that went down quite easily on a warm summer’s night.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
The appearance is a bright, golden color. A thick shaving-cream head. Hazy, only a few slow-moving bubbles. Not bad.
The smell is a malty aroma that doesn’t smell like an adjunct. Some Hallertauerish hops; bitter and European. The pilsnery malt dominates the taste. The flavors are reminiscent of adjuncts. A hint of banana. Lemony, but with a hint of a funk. Musty. The hop presence is rather negligible. The feel is bubbly and yet watery. An unusual bitter burn on the way down. A pretty average pils really. Not bad, just kinda dull.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz can. Clear golden with a lasting quarter-inch of bubbles. Faint aroma of crisp green apple. Flavor is similar with a spicy wood and cinnamon-apple finish. Light body is almost astringently dry.

On tap at Nashville’s Music City Brew Festival. This was one of the first beers I had at the festival and it was a great start. A very solid pilsner that is very easy drinking for the summer. Nice pale malt character with a nice subtle hop presence. Wish I could get this at home in KY.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
My Bottom Line:
Light cereals and grassy, herbal hops merge in this loose and approachable Pilsener.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the misty pale yellow.
-The nose is very timid.
-The mouthfeel is not too crisp, carbonated with large bubbles.
-Even though this is very drinkable and rather balanced, I admit I found it more boring than most good pilseners in the USA. I guess I was expecting more from Oskar.
