3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep straw almost golden colored pour that has been filtered. Big white fluffy head. Nose is grass, straw, and czech hops. Taste is corn, butter, and honey glazed buns. I ate this with a hot cross bun. Now I have 3 buns left and 5 shitty beers. Thumbs down.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2011 Can. Pours a nice looking crystal yellow with nice white head. Aroma of malt with some nice faint citrus, floral, faint grain. Flavor is malty, faint grain, hop present is obvious in flavor, a nice little spice. Mouth feel is light-medium body with medium-high carbonation. Very tasty!

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2009 this is a re-rating, original score was 1.6, from a tasting. Now that I have had a full glass, I can really see what this has to offer- lots of hops and light malts, stingy icy flavor, alcohol sting lasts for a while.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can from SL. Pour was fairly usual for a pilsner, full golden color, almost orangey, decent white head, but not at the top of the class of pilsners. The aroma was sweet doughy grains, faint grass. The flavor followed, full malt profile with some fruity ester elements (for a lager?), dough and grains the strongest, finishing with a clean hop finish, where the grass was a bit underplayed for the style, but still a tad spicey zingy. Mouthfeel was a tad thick for a standard pilsner, but I enjoyed the flavor of this one on a warmer spring day.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
So anyways, I’ve drank a few of these and had super high hopes. . . and I was let down. 12oz can, canned on 03/12/09. Sadly, a big aroma of cooked corn meets my nose first. Then wet paper. There is a tinge of floral hops, but they seem more bitter than they should be. Clear golden yellow with a 1/2 finger off-white head, fading to a thick ring and thin film. Flavor is the same with sweet grain addition--still corny as all get out--though I actually don’t taste as much paper. Semi-dry with bitterness peaking around a 2-3. Oh yeah, and I picked up on some fusel notes. Medium body with light prickly carbonation. Many people have asked what a craft brewery’s take on a cheap macro lager would be. Well, this is it.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can. Pours a pale golden body with a white head. Earth and caramel with pils notes up front, a thin bitterness and a hint of citrus. Pepper spice and a spicy hop nose. Crisp spicy pils notes with a thin body and some moderate carbonation. Good brew for a style i could care less about.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. can. Pours golden with a medium lived white head that leaves nice lacing. Smell is malty grains, a hint of earthy hops, and a touch of butteriness. Taste is creamy and malty up front with a hint of butteriness, which is followed by a moderate and crisp bitterness. Somewhat of a spicy hop finish. Surprisingly full bodied with a normal carbonation level. Pretty solid, and very drinkable, I thought.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2010 a buttery mess ..............., pretty corn filled with some dusty cardboard + honey ... nasty bitterness with a weird second grade sweetness... this has some nice features but this in the world of microbrew beer is piss... i can think of at least 10 pils of the top of my head that are miles ahead.. more like a malt liquor... thanks oskar, i will now go cut myself... . no crispiness, at all, which a pils has to have... actually pretty gross .. .

Diacetyl and DMS, the two Ds. Not a good combination for a pilsner. If this was brewed by some German company, I’m sure that the score would be a half-point lower. Hard to believe that this scores barely below Budvar on this site.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz can. pours a clear golden amber with a puffy white head. aroma is grassy, light citrus, bread. taste is as expected from the aroma; bready, grassy, malty. mouthfeel is wet and fluffy, with pretty sufficient prickly carbonation. lingering bitter flavor leaves the tongue a bit numbed. also a lingering dust flavor. now i may be a bit biased, as i used to live in the czech republic (so i feel it’s safe to say i know my pilseners). i think this was a near miss. a worthy attempt, though, this beer just has too much americanization (ie, a slap in the mouth of bitter hops). i’m also getting just a tad too much of this malt-liquoresque numbing sensation. overall a good session brew, but not the best from oscar blues.
