Our first lager produced with the 20 bbl brewhouse. This pilsner is a clear golden color. Four additions of Saaz hops lend a spicy-floral hop component.

8/24/2009: Oskar Blues Mama’s Little Yella Pils... Aroma: Appearance: Opaque shiny gold color with a frothy slightly off-white head; sporadic lacing. Flavor: Good balance of of Pils malt and spicy and grassy hops, mild to moderate bitterness; slightly sweeter (slightly reminiscent of honey comb) than most Pils and not quite as crisp in the finish, but still really good. Palate: Medium-bodied, very smooth, soft mouthfeel, filling. Overall: I like it. This is a Pils that anybody could drink and enjoy... from a can!

12 fl. oz. can (Alc. 5.3% by Vol. / 03-31-09 @ 10:47) from D’s SixPax & Dogz in Pittsburgh, PA. Rating #339 for this beer.

12oz can with born on date 8/2/09. pours hazed golden with white head. a sweet grainy aroma with some floral and herbal hop notes. the sweet grainy notes are present in the initial flavor but some pleasant herbal and spicy hops dry this out nicely. This tasted a bit better on tap at the brewery earlier today but it works on a hot summer day when you are just looking for something refreshing.

Can. Pours a golden/yellow with a small foamy white head. Aroma of grains, grass, corn and some floral hops. Flavor was pale malts, sweet grains, grass and some light hops with a light body and has a dry hoppy finish

Even toned hazy yellow, with anice white head. Aroma is sweet corn and not much else. Taste is the standard, with a greater degree of spicy hop presence, and a bit of grainy astringency as it warms. Pretty easy drinkin’. $2/12oz can

Can (12oz). Pours a slightly hazy gold with a large frothy white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of corn and Euro Pils hops and is slightly vegetal -- somewhat standard Pilsner aroma that doesn’t knock my socks off. Slightly watery flavour of Saaz hops, some sweetness (honey?), corn and vegetables. Average bitter finish. Average bodied. Just good, it didn’t do much for me.

Clear golden pour with a wispy white head that dissipates, leaving sudsy lace. The nose has some light lemon with small hop notes, and maybe some detergent or corn. The flavors are a bit unimpressive, dominated by Saaz hops, with some corn, malt, hay and other grains lurking underneath. The finish is predominated by Saaz again. The mouthfeel is zesty, yet dull, with a medium body. Not a whole lot going on here, and certainly not the best Oskar Blues offering I’ve had. Funny how the style that’s best suited for canning (rather than bottling) is the one that turns out to be one of the lesser brews offered by the canning specialist.
