Our first lager produced with the 20 bbl brewhouse. This pilsner is a clear golden color. Four additions of Saaz hops lend a spicy-floral hop component.

can. Poured a nice, slightly golden yellow, with a very nice white frothy head on it. Smells of tree nuts, distinct yeast aromas, hints of grass and earthiness, along with hops, and malt. The beer really through me with the mouth feel, which was very full and almost creamy, but crisp and short like a pilsner should be. It had flavors of banana bread (as it warmed), some sort of nut, good malt and grain also. Because it was not as thin as most pils are i really enjoyed this beer.

12oz can. Pours a clear yellow gold with many fizzy bubbles eternally rising from the bottom. The beer pours with a thick white head that is also eternal - fades into an immovable 1/2 layer of beaten egg-whites but with larger (but not soapy-looking) bubbles. The aroma is very grainy with some malt sweetness, faint grassy and noble hops, and light notes of creamed corn. The flavor starts crisp and malty with a decent pilsner malt character that is bready, slightly grainy, and lightly sweet. The sweetness subsides and makes way for floral hop flavors. At mid-palate the beer is a comfortable balance of Saaz hops spicy bitterness with grainy malts. The finish is somewhat hoppy, slightly corny, grainy, and somewhat dry. The mouthfeel is crisp and highly carbonated with a medium body that feels watery on parts of the tongue and almost oily on others. Overall, a mediocre beer for Oskar Blues - Iíve loved all of their others and was hoping for a hoppy pilsner. This is a middle of the road brew - more authentic than, for instance, continental lagers that sometimes use Pilsner on their label, but still a bit of a let-down. Unlike their other beers, this tastes like beer that youíd *expect* to find in a can.

Can, courtesy sebletitje. Clear golden pour, bubbly lacing, no real head. Corny sweet nose, grain, bitter, flowery notes, some dryness to it. Grain, cereal and biscuit flavors, some cocoa as well, although a but muted. Refreshing and very drinkable.

can, pours clear golden, white head. Aroma is grainy, slight hoppy touch, leaning on the corn. Taste, hoppy, sweet sugary mouthfeel , medium carbonation, malty. Not bad, but really nothing special, and a lot better than the average pilsener.

Yellow pour with big white head. Aroma of pee, bad malt, some pear maybe. Flavor is thin and kind of bad. The hops donít seperate from the malt. A big mess of a pils.

Can. Batch #2. Canned on: 02/27/09. Pours a crystal clear pale gold with a smallish off-white head. Crisp aroma of corn, wheat, lemons, and some grapefruit. Crisp and thin-bodied with a high level of carbonation. LOADS of sweet corn to start things off flavor-wise. A bit of caramel in there at the start too. Transitions to some crisp wheatiness. Finishes with some light lemony and grapefruity flavors. I had hoped for much more coming from this brewery. At least itís refreshing and clean tasting.

Golden color. Grassy aroma, with a hint of fruits. The flavor is clean, with an after taste that is a little metallic. (more a function of the beer than the can. Iíve had enough OB beers that I love the can) This could use a bit more hop presence, but is a pretty good pils. I love these guys. Please, make a really good Bavarian Hefe in a can....NOW!

(can - 12 oz) Clear golden color with a very thin layer of white foam. Aroma is lightly bitter with some corn, malt, and very light hops. Flavor is rather malty and very lightly bitter. Hops are very hard to detect. Mostly dry malts and stale grass. Crisp finish, but mediocre at best. First Oskar Blues beer Iíve had that I wasnít crazy about.

Clear yellow pour with a thin white head. Musty aroma with hints of apple. Bitter corn flake malt flavor with some fruit. Crisp, but nothing special. A bit watery.
