Our first lager produced with the 20 bbl brewhouse. This pilsner is a clear golden color. Four additions of Saaz hops lend a spicy-floral hop component.

Czech Pilsner and my least favorite of the brews I tried. Iím not sure if itís because it was the last one I tasted or if I am becoming too much of a hophead, but this beer just didnít do anything for me. It was a nice, bright cloudy golden yellow with lots of visible carbonation and carried a great thick, creamy head with good retention, but after that it just went downhill like the Troublette. Under my nose, it came across medicinally sweet but with a faint and bitter powdered sugar corn/banana bread malt tint. Oh yeah, there was some yeast in there, too. Weird, I know. The mouthfeel was definitely on the thicker side, with a lighter flavor - basically all sweet cornbread malt - than the nose. I really wish I had more to end on, but thatís about as good as itís going to get for tonight. Iím glad for the experience, as always, but this one would be my last choice at any bar.

Gusher. Large white head. Clear yellow body. Gentle fruity herbal aroma with mealy floral notes. So it actually smells like a pilsner, instead of a bottom-fermented IPA. Interesting. Dryish dusty floral taste with fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish floral herbal aftertaste with grassy dusty notes. Lingering mealy, bitterish floral finish. Nice, drinkable, could perhaps use a little more character and freshness. (0.355l can, at Olympen, Oslo.)

DATE: March 31, 2016... OCCASION: playing Quirkle with Shan and Will... GLASSWARE: 22 oz. pilsner... APPEARANCE: golden, large bubbly effervescent body--clear as scotch tape... thick, Santaís beard of a head; sporadic spiderís web lacing... marshlike topography in the top of the glass... AROMA: Hallertau and Saaz, for certain... light bready presence...lilac, lavender and perfume--quite inviting.. PALATE: medium-bodied for a pilsner... mildly active... slightly beefy aftertaste... quite drinkable...TASTE: slight metallic draw early with pronounced malts... buttery and floral... some pepper adds dimension... OVERALL:a strong, likable version of the style that provides a smooth, textured experience...fourth place in the Oskar Blues mix pack is NOT a shameful showing!

12 oz can. Crisp and clean and a little sweet. Finish is a little off. Funky and weird sweetness. Kind of taking away from the beer for me.

Pours golden with medium head. Aroma: clean aroma, some malt, a touch of citrus. Taste is also nicely clean, with some interesting citruss and hops stuff going on. Overall a well done pilsner.
