3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Czech Pilsner and my least favorite of the brews I tried. I’m not sure if it’s because it was the last one I tasted or if I am becoming too much of a hophead, but this beer just didn’t do anything for me. It was a nice, bright cloudy golden yellow with lots of visible carbonation and carried a great thick, creamy head with good retention, but after that it just went downhill like the Troublette. Under my nose, it came across medicinally sweet but with a faint and bitter powdered sugar corn/banana bread malt tint. Oh yeah, there was some yeast in there, too. Weird, I know. The mouthfeel was definitely on the thicker side, with a lighter flavor - basically all sweet cornbread malt - than the nose. I really wish I had more to end on, but that’s about as good as it’s going to get for tonight. I’m glad for the experience, as always, but this one would be my last choice at any bar.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Jaune brillante avec une petite robe blanche. L’arôme des céréales et d’houblon saaz. En bouche il y a des céréales, un peu du malt, et d’houblon saaz. Rafraîchissante, mais rien de spéciale.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
clear pale yellow pour, small but very white head. Nose is Pilsner malt with a hint of peppery hops. Middle is thin malt, a little watery, and a noticeable floral hop background. Finish is light, sweet malt. Not bad, not great.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
4 oz chilled pour into a cylindrical tasting glass from tap at the brewery’s taphouse. Fresh as can be! Yellow and clear with a moderate head. Easily the most flavorful pils I’ve ever had. Wheat nose. A bit of citrus, lemon, and grassy taste.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Can from Aaron--thanks! I didn’t actually see it (straight from the can) so appearance is a guess. But it’s classic in the way that I generally don’t like pils: a kind of cardboard flavor and body. Not a great aftertaste.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from tallboy can into a footed pilsner glass, a clear golden with very short-lived white foam. Weak but pleasant aromas of sweet grains and noble hops. I don’t know if it’s all-grain, but it tastes authentic. More hops bitterness than flavour and aroma. Light body, lower than expected carbonation, bittersweet aftertaste. Not a classic German Pilsener, but as good or better than most American versions.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a can into a pint glass. Pours a clear pale yellow gold color with smaller white head that shrinks quickly, nose is corn, citrus, hint of whisky, biscuits. Medium carbonation, light body, sweet, with a bit of dryness in the finish. Easy to drink, decently made, but has a hint of a typical cheap lager in it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This Pils has the feel, appearance, and overall essence of a high quality and well made beer. And it is. But the lingering sweetness of this beer is off-putting and certainly does not remind me of an appropriate example of the style. Even Czech Pils, which feature more malt sweetness than a dry German Pils, do not have this strong, out of place presence of sweetness....almost like a candy-sugar. This beer does. If they could tweak the recipe a little bit, and make it a touch more dry, it could be a really good Pils.
