COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American-style Barleywine. Still a youngster at this point (3 months), ODB has a long life ahead of it. At 13.2% abv and 100 IBUís this ale will age for years and develop over time. Look for a straight forward spicy citrus character from the exclusive use of Columbus hops and the considerable alcohol with a subdued malt background. This is a work in progress and we look forward to seeing how it ages.

Served on tap at Brick Store Pub in Decatur. Pours a beautifully clear, dark red. Small head, but lots of lacing remains. Aroma is driven by alcohol and is very sugary, but there is some hoppiness, as well. Flavor of some hops, dried fruit (apricot and cherry)--overall, itís very sweet, but a bit sour from the fruit and bitter from the hops. Alcohol is extremely strong throughout, and the flavor profile is reminiscent of brandy. A relatively thick mouthfeel. In sum, a fine brandywine that is especially for those who like fruit flavors to come through. Strong.

similar to old ruffian with itís aggressive hop profile and rich malt backbone. this one has a little more toffee sweetness to it. balanced aroma and flavor not because either is delicate but both hops and malt are intense enough to balance each other out. wish theyíd can this one too."

On tap at Hops and Pie. Pour is murky amber with a small tan head and great lacing. Big raisins, figs, dark fruits, tangy, red licorice, caramelly, bready, and brown sugar in the aroma. Taste is bread, slightly oxidized, caramel, dark fruits, raisins, prunes, grapey, and dates - somewhat sweet. Full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Decent Barleywine.

Pouring at the Saturday sessions of Extreme Beerfest. Pours a gently hazed ruby amber with a thin beige head. Big plum and prune, malt and sticky caramel. Chewy malt, lots of plum and prune notes, toast. Chewy malt, long bitter finish with a touch of grapefruit.

Lemme get that ODB! On tap at the falling rock for their barleywine month and listed as ODB. Dark caramel color and it smelled fantastic. Lots of toffee, hops, reminded me of Bigfoot a little, very rich. If this was 13% Abv i didnít notice it even though I knew it was burly. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 02-14-2011 02:19:51

2009 vintage on tap @ the Common Table. Reddish brown brew with some tan head. Great nose of toffee, caramel, pine hops - flavor is very malty with some sweetness and a hop bite, especially as it warms.
