2009 Osktoberfest was designed to welcome the change of seasons. Smooth, earthy, Noble hops are gently paired with the rich tones of German and American malts. Brewed with a true German lager yeast, in a small batch and limited release. Smooth and easy-drinking at a modest 5.0%ABV, festively effervescent, and designed for a full day of celebratory revelry under the Rocky Mountains.

Not a bad Oktoberfest. Tried at the Beer Corner celebration in Omaha in 2016. Expected something a little more hoppy considering the brewery, but this was pretty standard. Malty sweet and mild.

On tap at the Brevard brewery Tasty Weasel taproom during the 3rd Anniversary celebration. O: I’ve had a bunch of marzen beers, almost all German thanks to an advent beer calendar. This US version is as least as good as any of them and definitely better than most. Great balance and more flavor than average. Highly drinkable and no doubt great with food, but I have to guess because it was gone before my food arrived.

Draft: Clear copper with a small, off-white head. Light caramel scent, nutty. Taste is standard Oktoberfest fare, just very light and airy feeling. Soft, but tasty.

Tap at brewery. Pours clear dark copper with fizzy off-white head. Aroma is toasted and caramel malts, light floral notes, dates, and faint raisins. Flavor is toasted malts forward with caramel, toffee, light grassy hop bitterness, and some dark fruit sweetness; semisweet finish that dries out. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

Marzens are not my favorite kind of style of beer but I enjoyed this one and would easily drink a pint or two. Crisp, toasty, malty, with a slight undertone of fruit. Nice drinkable brew.
