Oskar Blues Ten FIDY

12oz. can. Pours black, literally like used motor oil. Blackest, thickest substance I’ve ever seen come out of an aluminum can. Small dark brown head. Some lacing, but very temporary, doesn’t stick to the glass. Aroma is dark roasted malts, cofee, and some chocolate. Flavor is heavy on the chocolate with some coffee, roasted malts, and a bit of the hops rearin’ their head, and is also long-lasting. This year’s is less chocolaty than the previous year’s. Low carbonation, thick and rich. A top-notch imperial stout. I’ve bought a number of 4-packs over the past year and will definitely buy more. Enjoying this one along with a Hershey bar and they’re a great combo!

On tap at the Oskar Blues Grill & Brew, Lyons 10/10/2007 Strong roast aroma. Small tan head. Black strong in alcohol and fruity with a bitter coffee roast finish.

THOUGHTS: The best imperial stout I ever had from a can. OK, it’s the only one I’ve ever had in a can, but seriously it is better than some of the bottled variety. Hid alcohol decently. TECHNICAL: Can. Poured a dark brown that was opaque black in the glass with a small to average, light brown head that mostly diminished, but left good lacing. The aroma was moderate to heavy roasted malt, cocoa, chocolate syrup and ever so slight coffee, very light piney hops, light alcohol, dark fruit and chocolate milk. The initial flavor was sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was very sweet and bitter with an average duration. There was chocolate syrup, slight soy sauce, dark fruit, acai berries, plum, slight pine hops, coffee and dark chocolate. The medium to full body was fairly oily with soft carbonation and a light alcoholic finish.

Delicious. Pours pitch black with tan head, very thick velvety chocolate aroma with loads of malt. Flavor is extremely complex. Obvious chocolate and coffee flavors but something fruity down there, cherries or figs maybe. Malt might be a little overpowering but that is a minor criticism of what otherwise is a flat-out awesome beer.

Cans from hophead22, SuIIy, and Captaincougar- Thanks guys! Had a few cans of this now. Pours a really deep brown with a quicky fading tan head. notes of dark chocolate, coffee, malt, toast. Nice body with a grainy yet smooth mouthfeel. drinking chocolate milk with some grammcrackers and bittering hops dropped in. One of the beersI had a metallic finish to it that was a little offputting. But overall, This was a good beer. Happy I finally tried this! Thanks again!

Haven’t had a lot of impy stouts from a can... Poured solid black with a smallish brown head and ok lacing. Strong coffee and molasses aromas with some buttery chocolate and malted milk balls. Wonderful espresso taste up front, with plenty of chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, figs, warming alcohol, and a surprising hops bitterness that comes up to bite you toward the finish. One of the more complex flavor profiles I’ve come across. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation, and a great espresso/chocolate aftertaste that lingers for a long while. This is great.

Can from Miver (thanks Joe !). Easily my best canned beer ever ! Opaque black with a dark brown head. Velvety mouthfeel. Sweet malty taste with lots of roasted coffee and chocolate. Very roasted aroma. A pleasure !
