Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Pours opaque black with a tan creamy head from the can at Redlight Redlight: It’s like seven layer chocolate cake meets vanilla meets alcohol (presence hidden not so much). Overall: Solid- Big, Black, and Thick. Intense mouthfeel. Rebuy: Yeah. #188 on 07112009, DG.

Can. Thanks to Dan for this one. Pours black with thick tan head. Aroma is coffee. Taste of more coffee, very fruity, with notes of nuts and vanilla. Finish very smooth.

@ a tasting, thanx David, pour black and opaque with a dark chocolate color head, aroma of raisins, nuts, chocolate and cherry liquor, flavor of coffee, nice roast, nutty bitterness and nice acidity, bitter towards the end, zesty and tasty, almost full-bodied, great stuff.

12 oz can served in a snifter. Served cold but still leaves an impressive milk chocolate brown head on top of the rich oil-like body. Aroma = Roasted. Slightly cola, even some ripe honeydew melon. Seriously, have a sniff. Full body... I mean FULL. Slick, thick, and creamy. Stout fans cometh. I’ve been waiting to try this brew for some time: The wait was worthwhile.

Can pours black with a turbulent dark brown head. Aroma is heavy in robust coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate with underlying notes of licorice and orange peel. Flavor is big and roasted with some tobacco in the finish. This beer definately goes for aggressiveness over complexity, but who says that’s a bad thing. A highly enjoyable imp that’s found it’s way to a permanent spot in my refrigerator.

Can. Pours a viscous jet black, and coming from the can, does look like motor oil. Thick dense chocolate head which falls off steadily. Fruit – with a big pineapple and mango tone interestingly enough, chocolate, roast, vanilla. Smooth, medium bodied, hides the abv remarkably well. Devils foodcake and chocolate pudding on the finish. Really tasty.

At a tasting, many thanks David, oily pour, almost no head, opaque very extremely dark brown colour, flavours of coffe, nuts, dried fruits, flavours of medium roasted coffee, porcini mushrooms, toasted brea,d brown sugar and hints of tobbaco. Big bodied and very sweet but still very good.
