Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Delicious palate of chocolate and malt, with an incredibly rich and smooth texture with a lovely consistency and dazzling lacing left on the glass from its towering, lingering head. Yummy. Possibly the best stout ever.

Why am I rating a stout out of a can? I guess the answer is its pretty dam good. Thick chocolate, coffe, and roasted flavors. I must say a pretty dam good stout. Why again is it sold in a can?

Draft @ Falling Rock. Deep, dark and oily, smells of dark chocolate and a hint of anise and coffee. Tastes more of the chocolate and a really prominent black licorice. The licorice flavor is extremely close to the Dutch ’drop’ candies (which I hate, but somehow they go really well in this beer). Finishes with nice hoppy bitter and a pleasant alcohol heat. A hot early summer day pre-ballgame was probably the wrong atmosphere to rate this one, but very good

Thick thick thick. Lots of chocolate flavor and smell. Don’t spill this one because it will stain the hell out of a shirt! Definitely worth the mess though. I could drink this beer until I lay down and die. So good!

Très bonne imperial stout. Douce et chocolatée en bouche, elle semble disparaître au palais, comme une barbe à papa. En finale, on perçoit davantage les notes d’alcool et de houblon, mais elle reste toujours moelleuse et légèrement chocolatée.

Pour is very thick.Looks like black, rit dye with a khaki head, that fades to a creamy ring. Big malty,roasted-burnt,espresso, aroma with alcohol ligering. Creamy, oily texture. Burnt malt, inky, flavors, with a quite, hoppy finish. Alcohol is present in mouth and finish in a stinging fashion.Falls apart a little quitckly.

12 oz can into a snifter. Pours a thick, rich, black, and completely opaque. 1/2 fingers of brown head, which settles quickly into a thin ring of foam, and an incomplete, oily island. Smells of molasses, roasted malts, coffee, anise infused sweetness, hints of dark fruits and alcohol. Quite excellent. With taste, "robust" is the first thing that comes to mind. Lots of what the nose made me expect; molasses sweetness, and roasty malts and coffee. Hints of alcohol bitterness builds as consumed. Moderately low carbonation. Thick and full....smooth....the way I want a RIS to feel. Overall, this is a fab slow sipper, and quite smooth and easy drinking considering it’s 10 % ABV ....Quite worthy of it’s high ratings. I (sadly) can’t get this stuff around here, but it might be worth it to find a way to snag some more of this canned gem.
