Ceebs25 (217), Naperville, Illinois, USA Apr 22, 2009 12 oz can (Thanks again and again Pawola22). The aroma is quite rich, yet balanced and not overly strong for a strong stout. The first things that hit the nostrils are a combination of roasted nutty bourbon and a barrel full of oatmeal. Other aroma notes that creep in there as well are powered chocolate, black malt grains, as well as some fruity notes of red apple and other medium fruits. It was quite interesting watching as I poured this beer from a can. Just something you don’t see everyday. A good creamy, dark caramel cream head , entirely dissipates, leaving only a sea of black (there’s actually some dark crimson around the edges). Caramel malts galore in the taste. Rich, roasted and nutty, but a ton of caramel malts mixed with dark/black grain malts to make a very malty malt beverage. Also, minor cocoa and some bitterness in the background. Consistency is full, not overly heavy for an imperial, quite smooth though, and good flavor projection. This is a good imperial stout, making it a very solid beer overall. It just might be alittle too malted malty if that makes sense. Still, good but not exceptional stuff. sallad (110), USA Apr 22, 2009 Black like old motor oil. Not even a twinge of color at the edges when held directly to a 60w bulb. Dark brown head that barely wanted to foam despite a rough, splashing pour. Some dark roasted aromas, but sweet like caramel and toffee. Plenty of coffee and cocoa in there, too. A coating sensation of sharp but creamy dark caramel and the piney fragrance of alcohol. Finishes long and sweet and bitter all at once, with notable alcohol warmth. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Apr 19, 2009 Pours out a black color with a thick brown head. aroma is big on malts, coffee, dark fruit, and choco. flavor is rather smooth with a lot of similarities to the aroma with a nice smack of hops in the finish. This can of burnt motor oil is great. zizzybalubba (339), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA Apr 18, 2009 Updated: Jun 30, 200912 oz. can purchased at Bon Vivant (bottled August 25, 2008). Pours as black as any beer I have ever seen. Looks thick like motor oil. Aroma is port-like; alcoholic with a hint of dark fruit. Flavor is decent. I detect some smoke from the roasted malt. I am tasting some of the dark fruit from the aroma. No taste of alcohol but I do feel the burn. Not my first can of Ten Fidy and I do remember liking this better. Must re-rate when I am certain it is fresh...Re-rate June 30, 2009. Much better this go round. Rich and creamy texture. Big roasted malt flavor. Huge dark chocolate taste. This is the beer I remember. An outstanding Imperial Stout. osu97gp (168), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 16, 2009 Can. Pours a black with a brown head. Aroma of roasted and chocolate malts. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malts, alcohol with quite a bit bitterness. Whoa is this beer thick and pretty good. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Apr 16, 2009 Pours a black color with a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, molasses, dark fruits, and a little bit of some alcohol. Thick palate, kind of sweet at first but the roasted flavors hit you right after that. A decent bitter finish with a nice lingering flavor. mikalooch (159), , New Jersey, USA Apr 15, 2009 Can. Pours deep black with athin brown head with minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with a bit of candy sugar. Flavor leans towards the sweet side, chocolate with a bit of biter roasted malt, licorise, brown sugar and a touch of espresso. Thick mouthfeel, kind of like a milkshake. Nice stout, very drinkable. pede7 (5), Seattle, Washington, USA does not count Apr 14, 2009 Wow. Intense as you might expect. Had this awhile ago so the memory of the flavors eludes me but...the best part was how the waitress accidentally grabbed my glass off the table and then refilled it for free. BONUS!
the picture does the head justice; dark as night and thick as a...wait for it...foggy night. one to savor.
