hombrepalo (745), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 13, 2009 Lent is over! Made it. This one was sent via trade by Alldaydrinker! Thanks buddy. Impy stout out of a can! So glad to have finally tried it. Aroma is of burnt caramel. Pours a scary motor-oil black with a brownish-red head that doesn’t stick around very long. Achohol presence is makes itself known, and the flavor has a bit of heat to it due to this. It’s big-bodied and has a slightly moderate hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy with a well-balanced amount of carbonation. Good, but I don’t think this is worthy of 4’s. f351c4v (404), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2009 On tap @ Shady McGrady’s. Pours a pure black color with a small, dark brown head. Aroma of candi sugar, very sweet and malty. Fresh roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate dominate; slightly thick, oily body. Tasty, and @ $4 a pop, its a great deal! can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Apr 11, 2009 Aroma of smoke and smoldering sugar - actually reminds me of boiling maple syrup with my grandpa. Appearance is jet black with a very thin tan head. Out of the can I almost thought it was flat. Had to give it a very aggressive pour just to get some foam on top. Flavor of molasses, toffee, chocolate, coffee, apples, plums. So rich and intense, even right out of the fridge. Mellows and really turns into an impressive beer as it warms. Bravo once again Oskar Blues. JoeTheYounger (218), California, USA Apr 11, 2009 Very dark and rich. Smells like roasted chocolate/coffee and roasted malts. Leaves great after taste in the mouth and coats the glass very nice. Awesome stuff! andersand (271), Malmö, Sweden Apr 11, 2009 Updated: Apr 27, 2009Nice fat/thick brew, black as the night with a big creamy brown head and a big creamy ,smooth mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet and generous yet blanced by a big roasted bittersweet finish. Loads of caramell, roasted barley and toffe flavours. Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Apr 9, 2009 This thing is going to age great. Absolute zero chance of sunlight. Poured milky black with brown head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Chocolate and caramel swirl with some roasted coffee. suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA Apr 7, 2009 Updated: Apr 10, 2009You won’t believe the oily viscosity of this beer until you pour it from a can. It came out like syrup! A thin cinnamon colored head on top of a pitch black motor oil body. Very good looking stout. Aroma is coffee and oats with some chocolate as well. IBUs hide unbelievably well inside the thick sweet maltiness. Flavor is some chocolate with again coffee and a thick malty sweetness. A must try! vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Apr 7, 2009 Updated: Jun 14, 2009This is my favorite non barrel aged imperial stout to date. Also oskar blues shows that a canned beer can be great beer. Delicious flavor and aroma with a jet black pour and dark brown head.
