tturner (103), , Washington, USA Feb 26, 2009 unique in that there is some bitter quality on the front/top of the tongue but sweetens a touch on the finish. very sweet and malty overall, but full flavored. A touch acidic on the backend, too. Overall, very sweet, almost a dessert beer. reminds a bit of Dogfish Head’s world wide. Very drinkable world class beer.
neepsntatties (281), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 26, 2009 Purchased a year ago from, "By The Bottle" in Vancouver, WA. But, acquired most recent can from, "hannont". Oskar Blues is showing up in the Portland, OR market; hopefully Ten Fidy is on the way! Colour... pours as black as 10W-50 that’s been in the crankcase of a San Juan Mts. Jeep for 50K miles! The head is thick, tan and frothy. Nose... cold, black coffee, cocoa mass, malt balls and hops. Palate... ohhhhhh... where to begin with this corpulent stout? Let’s start with the immensely mouth coating "texture". Yes! Texture. I figure that this is technically a solid because it’s so incredibly THICK! Flavours of darkly roasted Sumatra coffee, chocolate malts, bittersweet French chocolate, cocoa solids and plenty of hops to balance it all out. All the flavours echo brilliantly on the looooooong finish! One added note.... this stout is so well balanced, it doesn’t seem anywhere near 10%ABV; but you better stay away from the heavy machinery, nonetheless! kennydiaz (182), staten island, New York, USA Feb 25, 2009 IT IS PROBABLY THE BEST BEER I HAVE EVER HAD FROM A CAN. POURS ALMOST JET BLACK WITH A SLIGHTLY CREAMY HEAD. YOU CAN TASTE THE CHOCOLATE, MALT, AND ROASTED BARLEY. ONE OF THE WORLDS BEST IMPERIAL STOUTS. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Feb 25, 2009 gotta love this strong aggressive pour of a stout from a can, ads to the experience, unique touch, but very thick, very full, and good stuff. Lacks in subtlties, but that is ok. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Feb 24, 2009 Draft at Michael’s Bistro in Charlottesville. Had been looking for this one for a while. Nice RIS but I’m finding it really hard for one of these to differentiate itself. Still, tasty brew that I will try again if I see it. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 23, 2009 On tap. Jet black with a creamy chocolate head. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, sweet berry maltiness, slightly citric, and annoyingly phenolic. Flavor was roast barley caramel and chocolate, berries and cream, and finished coffee and phenols. Palate was very smooth but the phenols were just a little cloying. The alcohol content made this just a little too annoying to call excellent, but its definitely good. thejon375 (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 22, 2009 Probably the best Imperial Stout ever made. Pours like 10,000 mile old motor oil. Great choc coffee flavor. Excellent palate feel and completely an amazing beer. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 20, 2009 Updated: Mar 6, 2009On tap at Collins Pub. Pours viscous black with no head. Smells like coffee and roasted malts- not too big. Drinks smooth and very thick. Oats, roasted malts, coffee, and some chocolate in a long, slightly bitter finish.
