Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

12oz can on a cold day. Pour is pitch black. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted coffee and malt. At first sip I am amazed to taste sweet bitter chocolate with coffee. Alcohol is very well hidden.Only hints can be detected. I could have this for dessert. yum

Enjoyed via 12 oz can. Pour a dark brown to black with a deep tan head. Nose is one of chocolate and roasted malts. A slightly oiliness comes across on the palate, along with the expected roastiness. Notes of malt, hop bitterness, and a touch of alcohol (as one might expect) come across on the palate. While it finishes sweet, it does not do so to an extent that makes it cloying.

Can. Pours out thick and jet black with a minimal dark tan head and slight lacing. Aroma is a wonderful pop of rich dark chocolate, espresso and faint earthen tones. Taste is buttery with little to no detection of the high ABV. Creamy mouthfeel with very sweet, maple syrup finish (little more smoke with a less sweet would have been desired). Overall a very solid imperial stout that I would seek out.

Vanilla, chocolate, malt, caramel and definite graham cracker in the nose. Medium bodied, jet black, a little slick on the tounge. Flavors of chocolate, cream, toffee, light vanilla. Slight bitterness in the middle, but overall a creamy, slightly sweet finish.

The last of the Imp. Stouts for the evening: Thick as motor oil, and when glug glug glugged it’s way out of the can, that’s exactly what it looked like. Thick, black colour with no head. Very little carbonation and just a trace of lacing on the glass. 10%?! Wow! Never would have known, it was definately concealed from my palate. Again, smoke is noticeable with dark chocolate, earth- like forest floor on the roof of your mouth. Floored to the roof. Heavily roasted malts, and burned toast. I bet I could put a little bit of this Ten W-FIDY in my car and that baby would run- wooooweee!

12 oz. can. Pours thick and black with a brown head with decent lacing, like all great imperial stouts do. Aroma is sweet with the standard coffee/chocolate profile. Hints of salted butter and toffee. Flavor is more tame than expected. Very smooth dark chocolate mostly. very little bitterness and nothing overpowering. A touch of alcohol. Not as sweet as expected. Typically full bodied stout mouthfeel. Doesn’t stand out for an Imperial stout but it is still very, very tasty.
