Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Draft and can. Pours a black body with a brown head. Big malty chocolate, toffee, caramel, and oats. An underlying hop bitterness but not cloying. Strong roasty finish good stuff.

Pours a deep, opaque sable with minimal, fine-bubbled tan head. Rich, mocha-like aroma is just a bit sweet and a little smoky, and very appetizing. Superb coffee and chocolate flavor is mouth-filling and delicious, smoky and lively. Texture is thick and tingly so it satisfies on the way down the pipes.

(Can) Pours to the blackest color I’ve ever seen from an Imperial Stout. Deep tan/Brown head that’s a solid two fingers. Smells of cocoa, malted milk balls and a touch of honey. Not terribly thick on the palate. Really opens up with more bubbles. The taste is, as expected, of chocolate and malt. There is a lingering sweetness that mixes nicely with the good deal of booze in this one. On the finish the hops finally come out. Thank god. Impressive beer, and the freshness and portability makes you wish more people would embrace the can.

Pours like motor oil with a small light brown head with good lacing. It has a roasted aroma with notes of coffee and bitter dark chocolate. The flavor is of coffee, dark chocolate and oak with a boozy overtone. The overall flavor is slightly sweet with a bitter finish. The texture is creamy. I love this beer, its one hell of a stout.

Can. Pours jet black, with a very small, dark brown head. Aroma is slightly sweet roasty malt, with coffee, earthiness, and black cherries. Flavor is chocolate, espresso, oats, slight malt sweetness, black cherries, and a tannic note reminiscent of red wine, that increases in the finish. Very smooth on the whole, both in the velvety mouthfeel, and in the blending of all the big-but-not-rough flavors. Alcohol barely noticeable. Excellent oatmeal-stout-style imperial stout.

Completely black pour into a snifter produced very little head. However, the foam that appeared was scarcely lighter than the beer! Chocolate/coffee dominates both nose and mouth. Very thick on the palate initially, but is not cloying at all. Probably a perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness. I would never have purchased this had it not come recommended by fellow beer drinkers I trust.

12oz can. Thanks to Nbutler11 for this brew. Pours black with thick and dense dark tan head. Aroma is strong with roasted malts and chocolate, caramel, oats and bit of coffee. Flavor is of roasted malt, oats, chocolate, caramel and finishes bitter with coffee. Nice thick mouthfeel. Finishes bitter but flavor is balanced. Nice big stout.
