Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Can. Pours near black with a brown head. Roasted aroma, a touch of sweetness and coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Roasted flavor with coffee, raisin, and a grassy hop finish. Very nice.

10 50 - pours like the oil, really. Beautiful onyx pour with a significant brown froth. Aroma of rich cocoa with some oak amd fresh ahi. Palate is rich, thick and complete. Nearly perfect in taste, a journey from coffee to chocolate to malts to hops back to coffee. Each taste seens better than the last. Be aware of the new brewery opening in Longmont, let’s see how they do!

Finally got a chance to try this, at Paul’s BBQ 08, thanks so much for saving this for me Paul. One word - WOW. Awesome milk chocolate aroma - no roast here. Pitch pitch black, big brown head. Taste again is all delicious smooth chocolate without a hint of roast at all - a unique approach to the style. Lovely alcohol and chocolate finish. Spectacular!

Thanks to BOLTZ7555 for this one! It’s amazing seeing something this dark and thick coming out of a can. Pours an thick, oily black with a brown inch thick head that leaves lovely lacing. Plenty of chocolate and and coffee in the aroma. In the flavor, there’s plenty of coffee and bitter chocolate. Coffee definitely dominates here. Finishes with a note of licorice though. Smooth on the palate, but I’ve found creamier impy stouts. Quite delicious beer, and I’m quite happy I have another can sitting in the cellar!

Date: 08/01/08, 12 oz. can, #900!!

Aroma - Roasted grain, black coffee, bitter chocolate, spice

Appearance - Black, no light escapes, medium brown creamy head with good durability, and thick strands of lace,

Flavor - Treacle and black strap molasses, peppery bitterness, and a dry, but not overly harsh finish

Palate - Full body, light carbonation, very smooth with anice thick, plate coating mouthfeel. Dry with a a very mild astringency.

Overall - An excellent impy sotut, and in a can nonentheless!! Well balanced and very drinkable, alcohol not really in evidence.

I think my car might be able to run on this beer. Pours like motor oil from the can with an intiidating brown head of foam. Balanced notes of coffee and cocoa in the aroma, and perhaps a little blueberry. Cocoa dominates the flavor, which finishes like espresso. Very sticky and malty. "This dog’ll hunt," is right.

[1388-20080524] Growler. Super dark cocoa roasted malt aroma with a bit of smoky cigars. Deep black body with a medium-lasting creamy dark tan red head. Roasted malt and burnt coffee grounds continues in the flavour. Full heavy body. Really nice, it’s "like biting into a coffee bean."
