Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

can. Pours a thick oily opaque black, small head of tightly-packed brown bubbles that fizzes down to a thin layer and a nice ring. Aromas of bittersweet bakers chocolate, burnt coffee, and a twinge of floral bitterness. Flavors follow on the nose- huge roasted chocolate malts, a healthy dose of bitterness, some smooth coffee notes, and some chunky oatmeal. Bitterness that might be overdone in other imperial stouts works very well here, balancing out the brew. Palate is thick and viscous, but with only a little bit of oily bitter finish. Nothing especially astounding, but a VERY solid and well crafted imperial stout.

Can from bigmmartin. Black pour with a small brown head. Smokey chocolate malt, coffee, and a little hops come through on the aroma. Flavor is sweet, mild bitterness, then a little alcohol. Smooth but dry and a short aftertaste. Not bad but not something great either.

Poured from the CAN! Awesome gift from matt (mcbackus). Very still, oil black colour with a little tan ring around the edge. Big aroma of chocolate and some bittereness. Big flavour of dark roasted malt, coffee, bitter chocolate and hops. Quick bitter finish with a hint of alcohol.

I have to say that when I opened this, I couldn’t help to at least drink a little out of the can. What a delightful stout this is. Slightly sweet, very bitter and very very rich.

12 oz. can given to me by Jan Primus (thanks Jan!). This may very well be the single darkest looking beer I’ve ever had. Pure jet black, poured like motor oil, which is a tad cliche but this really personifies that saying. Zero head. Aroma is big on the anise, also really nice hops, and some dark chocolate malts. Flavour hits right away, on a smooth, silky stream, mocha-toffee-choco bitterness, with some major chalkyness to it, which I don’t mind as much as some other people. Extremely full mouth-feel, and the sheer intensity of this one is what really defines it. Unlike most other Imperial Stout’s I’ve had. And from a can no less! I really love the hops in there, makes it seem like a blend of an IPA and an Imperial Stout to some extent.

Thanks to Glouglouburp for this bonus brew. Coffee, dark roasted malt and a bit of ash. Nice dry finish. Super thick tar black like the La Brea pits. No dead dinosaurs floating in the can however. Best beer I’ve had out of a can.

Can thanks to dkachur! Very dark, black pour with a thick brown frothy head. Strong aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavor is more sweet roasted malt and hops. Winds down to a bitter, very dry, finish. Has a nice thick, creamy, mouthfeel though.

Can, thanks Craig. Pours a solid black with a medium brown head. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts, a bit of coffee. Very smooth on the palate with nice flavors of raosted malts, cacao, coffee and very little hops. Had a bit of a dry, ashen note to it as well. Quite good.
