Thin tan head with tights bubbles, very nice lacing. Has some serious legs, clings to the glass. Roasty, heavily chocolate, coffee on the nose. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, huge dose of bitter hops to finish. Big mouthfeel, drying from the hops and probably some from the roast as well. Solid. Soonah (910), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2008 This bad bitch literally glugged out of the can. One of the thickest, darkest pours you’re likely to ever witness. A scant brown head was gone quickly. The aroma was rich chocolate, coffee, light floral hops. The flavor was kind of like a chocolate milkshake actually. Rich chocolate, creamy milk, some coffee and a bit of dryness on the end. The mouthfeel was full, thick and chewy and some unchecked alcohol heat snuck in on the finish putting a mild damper on what is otherwise a truly great brew. Bradrcr (779), Renton, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Aug 4, 2008 7/5/08 On draught at the Seattle International Beerfest. Aroma is creamy roast malt forward folowed by slight sweetness. Appearance is black with a well maintained tan head. Flavor is heavily roast malt forward, slightly sour, with low sweetness and bittering. Mouthfeel is full bodied with a strong grainy feel. Overall, cool, but needs more sweetness and dark fruit, I think I preferred the can version, to be honest. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 30, 2008 can. Pours a thick oily opaque black, small head of tightly-packed brown bubbles that fizzes down to a thin layer and a nice ring. Aromas of bittersweet bakers chocolate, burnt coffee, and a twinge of floral bitterness. Flavors follow on the nose- huge roasted chocolate malts, a healthy dose of bitterness, some smooth coffee notes, and some chunky oatmeal. Bitterness that might be overdone in other imperial stouts works very well here, balancing out the brew. Palate is thick and viscous, but with only a little bit of oily bitter finish. Nothing especially astounding, but a VERY solid and well crafted imperial stout. 12many (231), Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 29, 2008 Can from bigmmartin. Black pour with a small brown head. Smokey chocolate malt, coffee, and a little hops come through on the aroma. Flavor is sweet, mild bitterness, then a little alcohol. Smooth but dry and a short aftertaste. Not bad but not something great either. BelgianBeerGal (1282), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 29, 2008 Poured from the CAN! Awesome gift from matt (mcbackus). Very still, oil black colour with a little tan ring around the edge. Big aroma of chocolate and some bittereness. Big flavour of dark roasted malt, coffee, bitter chocolate and hops. Quick bitter finish with a hint of alcohol. UselessGdTaste (363), Long Beach, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2008 I have to say that when I opened this, I couldn’t help to at least drink a little out of the can. What a delightful stout this is. Slightly sweet, very bitter and very very rich.
