Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

12 oz. can given to me by Jan Primus (thanks Jan!). This may very well be the single darkest looking beer I’ve ever had. Pure jet black, poured like motor oil, which is a tad cliche but this really personifies that saying. Zero head. Aroma is big on the anise, also really nice hops, and some dark chocolate malts. Flavour hits right away, on a smooth, silky stream, mocha-toffee-choco bitterness, with some major chalkyness to it, which I don’t mind as much as some other people. Extremely full mouth-feel, and the sheer intensity of this one is what really defines it. Unlike most other Imperial Stout’s I’ve had. And from a can no less! I really love the hops in there, makes it seem like a blend of an IPA and an Imperial Stout to some extent.

Thanks to Glouglouburp for this bonus brew. Coffee, dark roasted malt and a bit of ash. Nice dry finish. Super thick tar black like the La Brea pits. No dead dinosaurs floating in the can however. Best beer I’ve had out of a can.

Can thanks to dkachur! Very dark, black pour with a thick brown frothy head. Strong aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavor is more sweet roasted malt and hops. Winds down to a bitter, very dry, finish. Has a nice thick, creamy, mouthfeel though.

Can, thanks Craig. Pours a solid black with a medium brown head. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts, a bit of coffee. Very smooth on the palate with nice flavors of raosted malts, cacao, coffee and very little hops. Had a bit of a dry, ashen note to it as well. Quite good.

I would call this one a desert beer. Great tasting, you can most certainly taste the chocolate and cocoa. Overall smooth but a little bit of bubble in the mouth. Not an overwellming aroma but a good one. Looks great, taste great, overall great stout by the oskar blues guys.

(Rating #1826)

Delivers delicious roasted chocolate in the nose with an oily black pour that explodes from the can with a strong and slowly building fluffy dark brown head. The hops come across more aggressively on the 2nd time around the nose. Roasty with some tobacco and leather notes. Creamy and not overly complex, but still really well done and enjoyable to drink. A light bit of dark fruits and roasted caramel coffee round out the flavor profile. Nicely done/

Like Yeti, this features that dry-as-rock chocolate ambiance that encircles the whole taste. Unripe currant follows.
