Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Can via trade with brokephibroke. Deep opaque brown-black body, thick, dense medium brown head. Aroma of rich roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate, with hints of molasses and bitter hops. Creamy, soft body, with vinous notes adding a sweet, tannic characteristic to the swirl of coffee, chocolate, dry roast, and soy. There is a chewy, soft sweetness to the body, reminiscent of red licorice or strawberries, that brings back memories of trying Thirsty Dog’s Siberian Night IS for the first time on tap. The bitter, astringent hops do assert themselves in the finish, pairing with alcohol notes, leading to a slight burn that, if reduced, would yield something even more rewarding than this already fantastic beer. Beers like this are great reminders of why the craft beer industry is hopping, so to speak...

Pours near black with a medium head. I never had anything pitch black, but this is getting close.
Aroma of deeply roasted malts and a lot of them, as well as some liquorice, and a hint of espresso. Heavy body with a full roasted and bitter taste. Heavy hops with some chocolate and espresso.

Pours thick like syrup with one finger tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee with lots of roasted malt, hints of chocolate and vanilla with a dash of hops present as well. Flavor is prickling with creamy and roasty malt- sweet but not cloying. Deep maltyness lingers on the tounge with flavors of coffee and hops poking though as well. Palate is simply amazing. Thick, rich and syrupy, caressing the palate with velvet- perhaps the thickest beer I’ve ever quaffed. More of a dessert than a beer. Delicious.

12oz can-Pours with a small chocolate froth head, the rest looks like used motor oil....Thats a good thing. Aroma of roasted malts, and chocolate. Flavor is a nice, not to sweet roasted malt explosion of creamy full bodied goodness.

Can, and a really great Iimp Stout. Pours black as hell with a nice brown head. Aromas chocolate, coffee and a nice malty smell hits my nose. Flavor is roasty and not as sweet as some big imp stouts. This one has flavors of coffee and is remarkably creamy. Leaves a nice brown film on my glass.

draft. pours black with a dark brown foamy head. dark chocolate and espresso aroma and flavors. liquorice. wow - extra smooth and creamy palate. wonderfully dry. smells like an asian food market. an exceptional beer that is well worth seeking out and stashing away. the best imperial stout i’ve tasted. re-rate: this was completely different out of the can than it was on tap. the can tasted more in line with most imperial stouts. heavy licorice, burnt mollases, strong bitter hop kick. it was much less smooth. hmmm. maybe i’ll let the rest of those cans sit for a while and see if they start to mellow to the smooth beauty that the draft version was.

The daughter unit brought this to me for Father’s Day earning herself some serious brownie points. Apparently this is now available at the liquor store near were she lives in Massachusetts. 12 oz can. Poured a deep, deep brown, almost black, with a small head that was almost as dark as the beer. Nose is dark chocolate & some coffee. Smooth, silky, creamy mouthfeel with very little carbonation. Flavor was chocolate, molasses, brown sugar and a small hop background, all in near perfect balance. This was a wonderful drinking experience.

Can. Aroma has notes of chocolate, coffee, red wine, oats. Black hue with an average sized medium brown head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is smooth chocolate, coffee, molasses and oats. Finishes bitter. Palate is full bodied and oily smooth. Fantastic brew except for the stupid can. Had to first clean top then clean white carpet after spill. Cans are for macros! Besides that this is a really good Impy with good oat and chocolate tones and a bitter bite. A good one.
