AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 25, 2008 Pours about as dark brown/black as you can get. Very rocky, brown head forms on top. Smell is roasted malt and milk duds. Taste is huge! Very roasted malts, and I mean roasted. Charred might even be a better term. Full, creamy and very velvety on the mouthfeel. This has a close feel as a weak milkshake as you can get. This would be very complimentary to a good dark dessert. Can’t get over the amount of roast, chocolate and coffee that is here. Over the top, but good beer. restless7 (104), Lenexa, Kansas, USA May 24, 2008 CAN: Can opens with no carbonation sound at all jet black with red, no dark tan head. various lacing. medium. flavor is thick coffee and even thicker chocolate and roasted barley. Nice finish. By itself it’s amazing. Compared to other higher rated stouts (expedition) it’s noticably missing a little something, but still very excellent.
Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA May 24, 2008 Amazing to look at as it pours from the can. Straight motor oil with a chocolate head. Bitter coffee and sweet chocolate in the aroma and flavor. I can see where the Whoppers comparison comes in. Ultra creamy mouthfeel. Large head but soft carbonation. Fantastic beer. Drew (2406), Kent, Ohio, USA May 23, 2008 Found this at a little beer store in Annapolis - a few cases of it tucked under a shelving unit at the back of the store! Poured dark black, not even a hint of brown or red, but a rich brown head. Aroma was hoppy, sweet, woody, chocolate, anise. Mostly thick body (a little thinner than the flavor would’ve suggested), but still a very hearty drin with plenty of malty chocolate and a bit of coffee with a woody hoppy and somewhat dry finish. It’s great that they put this in a can. sleepylopes (313), New York, USA May 23, 2008 Desert or breakfast even. Smells dark and oaty with the usualu coffee and coco. The head rises out of the body slowly but assertivly. 10w50 is about right goes down smooth with great body. smith4498 (829), Miami, Florida, USA May 23, 2008 Pours dark black with brown head. Strong burnt malt aroma. Flavors of burnt malts and coffee. Alcohol comes through slightly and gets a little stronger as it warms. Full body with minimal carbonation and a thick mouthfeel. A well done impy stout. BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 22, 2008 aroma is chocolate and dark fruits.. Dates, prunes, raisins. Pitxh vlack with an amazing brown head, serious fingers. Not too thick on the palate. Flavor is loaded with chocolate, bitter, sweet, some coffee. AND it comes in a can. Warming dark fruit/alcohol finish. Lightly carbonated. gabrielsyme (66), Ohio, USA May 22, 2008 Wow, this beer is intense. Pours very thick dark brown/block with chocolate brown head. It tastes almost like a cafe mocha at first, getting more bitter as the beer warms. The alcohol is differently hidden well in the taste (although i definately felt it), and i don’t get as strong a roasted malt taste as i do with other stouts.
