Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Can, of course. Jet black, brown at edges, deep tan going to brown head. Aroma of espresso. Flavor is a rich load of coffee goodness, a hint of chocolate, just loads of roasted notes. Spruce on the finish. Nice bitterness keeps lingering. Well done, just a touch hot. Awesome that these guys keep pumping out such high quality.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured thick black and oily with a large incredibly dark brown head. The aroma was a lovely mix of sweet roasty malts, sweet chocolate and light floral and fruity hops. The flavor was tangy, fruity and roasty with a strong creamy chocolate presence and a hint of coffee and floral hop. The finish was long and roasty. The mouthfeel was creamy and smooth. Incredible.

...sex in a can. This beer is nearly as good as a good romp in the hay. This is the blackest beer I’ve ever had, bar none. This is one of the most viscous beers I’ve ever had as well... thick, nearly syrupy. To say this stout is a malt bomb would be an understatement... they claim there’s 98 IBU’s in there, but I don’t taste that...the hops are there, but they are definately smoothed over with all of the malt. This brew smacks you in the face with each flavor it offers... malt, chocolate, roasted barley, oats... somehow all of the flavors are absolutely obvious, yet they all meld together very well. Easily my favorite new stout for 2008.

Can at home. Pours in midnight black and produces a nice dark choclate head. The aroma is complex fruity and sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, and espresso. The flavor is immense. It is a breathtaking combination of dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts toffee and many other flavors. Each sip reveals more and more of this beers complex character. Really opened up as it got warmer. The finish is rich and smooth and the alcohol is well hidden. This beer is EPIC. A must try for any beer lover. An excellent example of the style.

Before I go into the review of this Brew i’ll let you know that I’m not a huge fan of Imperial Stouts, or Stouts in general, but i always leave space open to try different ales of certain brewers or breweries. Unlike most beers of quality, this beer comes in a can. Don’t judge a book by its’ cover they say, well they said right because this book needs no cover, down right one of the best stouts i’ve ever had, it has everything one would be looking for in a thick and fulfilling beer. It pours a dark dark midnight black, with little head. When the brew hits your lips it sticks and holds on for the entire duration of drinking. Simply amazing would be somewhat short of an understatement, try this beer at all costs, and speaking of it doesn’t cost that much for such a quality beer. bottoms up and enjoy.

Holy crap this ish is black!!!! Decent tan head with rediculous lacing and you can tell on the pour how viscous it is. Aroma is Biscuit malt and chocolate, slight alcohol (poured near cellar temp). Flavor is roasted malt, burnt biscuit and some licorice. Nice finish with a light alcohol presence. Nice one!

12 oz can purchased at the Tap House in Oldsmar ,FL . Just west of Tampa. This beer is loaded with flavors of coffee, chocolate, malt and oats. It’s as thick as motor oil and some have poured over their ice cream. It has that wonderful bitterness after taste. It really is heaven in a can.

This is one super exceptional ale. Extremely smooth for how humongous it is. It doesn’t burn and the alcohol is just faintly there. It’s thick and chewy in the same way Expedition is, perhaps even more so. Super thick body, heavy, but only when cold, warm and it is silky and medium. Fantastic.
