Holy smoke. What a stout. Pours a very opaque brown-black. No head. Aroma is complex; coffee, chocolate, fruity and some that i couldnít quite palce. Taste is very busy and complex; coffee, chocolate, berries. This thing will kick your butt; interestingly though, it doesnít feel or taste as strong as this beer is; not incredibly beer. Mouthfeel is almost like a soft-drink. Drink this beer.

Can to glass. Pours a deep black color with a creamy medium brown head. Aroma is a nice roasted malts, light chocolate character, oats. Flavor has a big oat character, roasted malts, touch of chocolatey sweetness. Long lingering roasted malts and oat character in the finish. Overall a very tasty imperial stout.

Pour is a black motor oil out of the can. A small tan head forms with the aroma of an intense roasted malt with caramel and chocolate. Flavor is more of a rich chocolate with a heavy roasted malt mouthfeel but some hops are present as well. After 2k ratings there is not much more to say. a super thick an enjoyable beer.

Can. Pours pitch black with a nice bownish head. Taste like dark chocolate with an aftertaste of hops.

Year-old can into goblet, 3/1/14. Dark brown, tan head. Nose of chocolate, toffee, roast, coffee. Tastes big sweet dark caramel, milk chocolate, prunes, coffee, plus plenty of hop bitterness too. Very rich and viscous, silky smooth body, softish carb. Top drawer.

Can. Pours black as a Koch brotherís heart. High, medium brown, lacy, mixed-grain head. Nose is Dutch chocolate, coffee, smoke, dates, mint, and vanilla. On the palate -- holy gods, thatís big. Big coffee, big chocolate, lots of boozy vanilla flavors, fruit, some sweetness. Quite intense. Still manages to hold together into a coherent whole, though; itís not a mess, itís a well-balanced, tight, elegant beer that happens to have all the subtlety of a brick dropped into oatmeal. Finish is long, dry, and rife with smoke and coffee. Thisíll keep you warm for sure.

Can 2011 & 2014 2014: canned. Pours pitch black with a nice tan head. Aroma is rich intense chocolate, coffee, slight booziness, lots of roasted malts. Flavor is lots of chocolate, coffee bitterness. Roasted and fresh. More crisp. Nice mouthfeel. 2011: canned. Pours super pitch black (one of the darkest beers Iíve seen). No head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, lots of booze, less roastedness. Almost barrel aged. Way more complex than the 2014. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malts, and a longer coffee finish. Little bit of oak, maybe some vanilla in there too. Itís a little cleaner, and smoother, a little more refined. Little bit more booziness. Nice mouthfeel. Spot on. Better one? Probably the 2011. 3 years does this beer good. But the fresh one is awesome and looks a little better.
