4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served in a snifter from a can. Pours a deep black with minimal head. A slight mocha head remained around the edges. Smell is sweet and chocolatey. There is a nice roasted flavor to the beer. The chocolate notes come through along with some vanilla sweetness. There is a slight and pleasant malty bitterness. This a thick beer with very little carbonation that lingers on the tongue.
Overall this is an excellent Imperial Stout. It has a nice warming feel going down and packs a nice punch without having too much of an alcohol taste. Highly recomended.

Keg at Brewdog Nottingham. A black colour with a foamy tan head. Aroma of strong roasted malts and coffee plus spicy liquorice, some dark chocolate and slight caramel. Taste again of strong roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, some caramel, malasses, slight spicy liquorice and subtle malty oats. Full bodied and soft carbonation. A warming, lingering roasted bitterness in the finish. Such a well made imperial stout, big roasted coffee flavours balanced with the sweetness of caramel and oats, spicy liquorice in there too. Slightly warming in the finish but the alcohol is well hidden. Gorgeous.

Can as a Valentines gift from Pix. Pours pitch black with a beige head. Aroma of coffee and liquorice. The taste is fairly spicy with lots of coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Lingering bitter finish. Rich and delicious. Nice creamy mouthfeel with the carbonation just right.

The nose is imeadiately sweet, chocolate with coffee jupming out! The inviting smoothness of the malty velvet mouthfeel is extraordinary. Somewhere along the line oats do seems to poke through, but mostly the roasted taste permeates enjoyably. Amazing.

Tap in Brewdog. (£4+ for a third of a pint) Initial sip is v nice. But after that the alcohol just becomes overwhelming, killing any enjoyment. Bit of an ordeal trying to finish it...

smells rich creamy and chocolatey, pitch black with no head, tastes as it smells with slight bitter bite to stop it becoming to cloying, a little too carbonated for a top mark but very good with no hint of its strength.
