COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Fresh can dated 10/18/12 served in a snifter. Pours a motor oil black with a finger of dark tan head and very nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, whiskey, dark fruit, leather, and pepper. Taste is chocolate, both milk and semi-sweet. There is coffee, roasted malts and barley, dark cherries, smoke, and cream. Mouthfeel is pretty chewy and also velvety. Alcohol is surprisingly well hidden considering it is there in the nose. Superb stout.

Dark coffee colored head. Pours like crude oil from a can. Smells is heavy of malt and burnt toast. Very toasty and carmelly taste. Bitter Iced coffee aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Strong chocolate aroma mixed with coffee and roasted malts. Well mixed taste of chocolate and coffee. Alcohol warming and a bit lively on the carbonation.

More than merely opaque, this sucks the surrounding light out of the room. Taste so smooth and wonderful, it feels like a natural part of you. I drink only stouts, and I'm hard to please; I will drink this often, to remind myself of what a stout is supposed to taste like.

From notes on 3/30/15 On tap at Oskar Blues. Big thick dark body. Huge roasty chocolate, leather aroma. Just as big of a taste. Big, almost tobacco like flavor. Lots of roasted chocolate.

Aroma is dense and thick of chocolate, molasses and sweet and heavy malts. Taste is big and masculine, like a can of testosterone, dark and powerful. Thick malts, heavy syrup, a pinch of licorice. It ends dry and bitter.

Can from a Systembolaget in Stockholm. Canned 10.08.2014. Pours black with a glare of mahogany. The head’s tan, dark, not big, but retains and laces nicely. On the nose it’s got a lot of roast and toast, molasses or even brown sugar, chocolate, and some piney-resiny hops to go with it. Tastes real chocolaty sweet with a lot of roasty notes, and a bunch of bitterness in the finish. The 98 IBU-s? Not quite hidden in this one. Mixes nicely with the roastiness. Thick and viscous, sticky, heavy body. Very soft and smooth in the mouth, almost no carbonation. When it’s warm, I do get some of the 10.5% but by no means it is distracting. A very nice sweet and hoppy Impy. An excellent dessert beer.

SB Lund, burk.

Deep oily black pour with a three finger, creamy to oily medium brown head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is big on roast and toasty notes, some oily grain, chocolate, citrus, earth, leather and a little charred wood. Flavor is loaded with roast and slightly overdone chocolate chip cookies up front, dark toffee, roasted nuts, a little pine, light, sweet toasted wood notes, cooked dark fruit and a hint of old vanilla. Heavy body, super creamy entry, light, blanketing and somewhat soft carbonation and slightly goopy, still quite creamy finish. This is a fantastic Impy Stout.
