Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Canned 12/22/08. Poured black with a dark brown head that left light lace. Aromas of toasted malts, bread and light alcohol. The flavor found milk chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Full body with a creamy texture. Sweet throughout yet a light roast aftertaste. Very nice!

Can from South Bay Drugs: Such the most blackest stout I have witnessed in a long time. Creates a huge abruption of violent dark brown colored head while a sweet and strong dark chocolate fills the aroma occupies my area. There are instant flavors of tartness which then leads to a sweet blend of chocolate and roasted down black malts. The drink is easily consumed but lacks a more fuller and creamier palate but I’m overly surprised that this imperial stout came from a can.

Can. Opaque black body with dark tan, frothy, lasting head. The aroma is malty with lots of roasted grain, coffee, sweet molasses, cherries and chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Moderate acidity, too. Medium to full body and a velvety texture that is softly carbonated. Some chalkiness in the finish along with lasting bitterness. Warming alcohol and dryness, too. A big beer that is very tasty and deep. Thanks Jeff.

12 oz can courtesy of Discount Liquors (Milwaukee, WI). Pours a a pitch black pour, motor oil thickness with decent brown cocoa head that spots and laces well. Aromas are a touch roasted malt, with chocolate, coffee, light vinous and dark fruit qualities, with a touch of warmth. Initial is full bodied, putting some good roast and sweet chocolate and molasses, with bittering hoppiness to a decent extent. Coffee, a good portion of vanilla, and a touch of cream. More bitter and than sweet, roast is moderate, a funny feel on the palate. Ok, a bit dissappointing.

V - pours dark dark black. Never seen a darker pour on a thick beer. Deep tan smallish head. A - smoke, roasted malts, dark chocolate T - malts that give way to a little alcoholic/bitter kick fading into a slight coffee/bitter taste which quickly mellows P - good balance showcasing a variety of flavors.

On tap at Collins. Dark black with creamy, brown head. Big roast in flavor and aroma. Smooth chocolate and a wonderfully hoppy finish. A little boozy, but not too much. A little licorice. Sticks to the back of your throat. Yum. Welcome to Seattle.

Growler. Black pour with thin tan head. Chocolate and coffee in the nose. Nice dark malty flavor. Very good, but not overwhelmingly so.

Thanks to leopoldstoch and OhioDad for sharing their bottles. Roasted chocolate and a hint of alcohol make up the nose. Black in color with a brown head. Full palate lies under a full chocolate flavor with great roasted presence. Light hop character plays behind the scenes throughout the experience which is very enjoyable and well done. One great beer.
