Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Can, courtesy beastiefan2k. Not a great start to drinking this beer, as my white shirt got sprayed with a black-as-night imperial stout upon cracking open the can. Oh well. Pours as black as mentioned, with wet lacing, and a bubbly, well-carbonated head. Smoky aroma and roasted coffee. Toffee, too. Chocolate is rich and tells me that this is going to be delicious. Roasted, thick, juicy, chewy malts. Yummy. Big on smoke and coffee. And a delightful, well-balanced hoppy aftertaste. Drinking this beer is like chewing on braids of caramel and taffy. Roasted finish stays in the mouth for hours, maybe days. Very good, and way too drinkable, too. Awesome!

11-6-07 can.
Oatmeal, nutty malt chocolate aroma. Bitterness screams from the thick and heavy texture. Thickest beer I’ve ever had. Pours like motor oil with fantastic head and lacing. It leaves a semi-sweet baker’s chocolate taste in the mouth. Takes a few sips for the mouth to adjust. A smidge drying but worth every second. Wish I could stock the fridge with this one - a winner for me!

12 oz can. Severed at the Brick Store in Atlanta. Pours black and oily with a long lasting head. Tons of coffee, chocolate, and burnt/roast grains. Semi-Sweet also. The flavor is not nearly as heavy as the appearance and aroma let on. Bitter chocolate (with only a very light sweetness). Notes of fruit (cherry perhaps) and plenty of pine hops. Coffee/espresso as also a powerful presence. Makes me think of having it for breakfast. Pretty good.

Pours a thick jet black that sticks to the can and drips all over the place. Minimal head. Aroma is coffee, baking chocolate, and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is lots of roastiness, chocolate, black licorice, and a bit of a dark cherry undertone. Overall, enjoyable.

Cans from hophead22, SuIIy, and Captaincougar- Thanks guys! Had a few cans of this now. Pours a really deep brown with a quicky fading tan head. notes of dark chocolate, coffee, malt, toast. Nice body with a grainy yet smooth mouthfeel. drinking chocolate milk with some grammcrackers and bittering hops dropped in. One of the beersI had a metallic finish to it that was a little offputting. But overall, This was a good beer. Happy I finally tried this! Thanks again! Drinking this again and it is pretty damn tasty.

12 oz can from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA. I had been looking forward to trying this one for a very long time and it was well worth the wait! Poured out black as the night with a thick oatmeal brown head that lasted for ages. Aroma is full of caramel malts, chocolate, coffee and the flavor is much the same, just malty and extremely delicious. Goes down smooth as silk as well. Amazing beer.

Can via trade with drewbeerme. Pours pitch black and thick with a frothy tan head. Coffee and chocolate malt aroma but I’m surprised by how subtle it is. Tons of chocolate and a bit of bitter coffee. Slight licorice notes in the finish as it warms. Rather thin mouth feel and taste. Pretty bitter. A good beer but I expected to be blown away. I hope to re-rate this one. Re-Rate. Can via tertons. Pitch black and thick with a frothy, chocolate colored head. Coffee and chocolate aromas. Coffee notes. Chocolaty with a dry bitterness. I’m not picking up the licorice this time but everything else still plays about the same. A very solid beer.
