On tap at Triangle Wine Co. Pours jet black with a brown head that takes a while to dissipate. Really great looking beer. Aroma is very chocolatey with caramel and malt flavors underneath. Taste is similar but more balanced between the chocolate and caramel flavors, also a little alcohol flavor and lasting bitterness. Body full, thick and creamy, Just the way I like an imperial stout. One of the best.

355mL can from Beer Exchange. Canned on 12/01/15 This stuff pours like sump oil. Just as dark & impenetrable. Dense brown head sits atop throughout. Intense aroma - espresso, dark brown sugar, roast nuts, cocoa, burnt crust, some fruity hoppy notes in the background. Big mouthfeel - smooth, unapologetically boozy from the get go, thick, chewy, low carbonation. Palate rocks with dark chocolate, espresso coffee, dark brown sugar & roasty, burnt sort of nutty/bread sort of thing going on Very high bitterness, long finish. Great beer undoubtedly, seems a bit tired - kind of forgivable for the journey it has travelled to get here, yet in can that rarely seems a problem? I dunno, very good either way.

Pours black with a large lasting tan head. Nose shows liquorice, fennel, roasted malt, cocoa. Very heavy aniseed notes. Flavours include more fennel, heavy roasted malt, some coffee an earthy chocolate note and hot booze.

Pours dark brown to black with surprising carbonation. Smell/taste is chocolate and Carmel with a surprise dryness indicative of the hop background. Definitely a big beer and very enjoyable!

Oskar Blues’ famed no-nonsense ’impy’, from a can, tasted at Hopishop’s B.U.M.B. tasting in Antwerp alongside its own barrel aged variant. Thin, brownish beige head only retaining as a steady rim around the edge of the glass, opaque black colour with mahogany edges, the latter only visible in daylight. Intense aroma of molasses, warm chocolate sauce, home made caramel, coffee liqueur, green walnuts, hazelnut shells, marmelade, whisky, pear syrup, wet leather and - as with the BA version - quite emphatic glue-like solvent. Candied sweet onset, date, brown sugar even, beef stock-like umami edge, softish carbo with very thick, oily, heavy mouthfeel, thick layers of chocolatey, caramelly and nutty malt bittersweetness, coffeeish roasted bitter touch in the end along with peppery hops but also a lot of wry, astringent, rough wodka-like alcohol, too much for my liking especially since this increases the solvent-like experience from the nose. The BA version tones this down a bit with a blanket of dry tannin-rich woodiness and bourbon flavor, but in this case it is obvious that the alcohol is too pronounced if compared with the true legends in this style, though this is the only point of criticism for me: in all other respects, this is a deliciously rich, fat, bittersweet delight.

Pikzwart bier met fijne schuimkraag. Koffie, pure chocolade. Licht gebrande smaak. Vol en plakkerig in de mond. Goeie bittere afdronk. Zéér lekkere stevige stout.

Can 2012 at 4:20, Rome-Italy. Grazie Cristoforo. Black pour, tick brownish foam. Nose: leather, silk pinch of vanilla as it warms up, a bit milk choco too. Mouth: chocolate in a clean body, frizzy peppery aftertaste. Lovely one! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz can and on tap. Pours oily black and thick, with a few fingers of mahogany head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is booze, anise, smoke, bitter powdered cocoa, and coffee. Taste is nowhere near as boozy as the aroma, with lots of baker’s chocolate and burnt coffee beans coming through with some toffee. Feel is thick and slick. Extremely delicious.

I will be cozying up to Ten Fidy all winter with its "’blanket of malt". Pours and settles in the glass an immense motor oil black. The head is a huge chooclate malt milkshake perched on a throne of malt formula one. The aromas are caramel, and fudge. On the tasting, the pallete becomes vexed with sensual smooth chewy body of caramel, baking chocolate, fudge, and bold coffee. Warming alcohol puts you right to bed.

Pours a dark brown to black with a medium head of creamy light brown foam. Medium thick body with plenty of lacing. Nice roasted malt aroma. Smooth creamy texture with a full mouth feel. Roasted malt flavor with a hint of dark chocolate. Hides the alcohol well. Smooth finish with just a touch of bitterness. OK but not great. Enjoyable but not the best.
