UPDATED: FEB 15, 2013 12 oz can. Motor oil pour, slight burnt marshmallow color head. Clings to the palate without being too thick. Heavier on the malt, yet still very well balanced.

Black pour with a single finger espresso head. Sweet roasty aroma with some raisin. Full mouth, almost syrupy. Taste is sweet at first, but morphs into bitter chocolate & espresso. Almost fruity at times. Maybe dates or raisins. Alcohol is super hidden.

Looked like motor oil coming out of the can with one of the darkest heads Iíve ever seen. The aroma is mostly chocolate and roasted barley. The first thing I notice is how smooth and velvety the texture is. Tons of flavor, but not overpowering. Chocolate, marshmallow, charred wood. Hops hit earlier than most. Although there is a lingering citrus finish. And the name Ten Fidy? Itís the 10.5% ABV, which is sneakily hidden. Yes, itís in a can, but this isnít one for the beach or a camping trip! Pour it, savor it. Outstanding!

Thanks berntholer, for sharing this one. If you would like to smell & taste chocolate, nesquick, oat, dates, this is your beer. OK mouthfeel. A good bitter aftertaste. An okay brew to me.

Tap. From notes. A: Lazy lightless black. G,ood mocha head on this one. N: Big dark cocoa, licorice, caramel, coffee. Some oxidation, since this is an older draft for 2008. Malt layering is quite intense. T: Really, really, really sweet, to the point of being cloying. Not a speck of hop to be supped. M: Thick motor oil. Low alcohol presence. It is 10-50. O: This is just too much sweetness for me. I prefer a backbone of bitterness to level out the cloying malt. Though it avoids the soy sauce trap of Dark Lord.

Pours a pure black with a thick khaki head that left a lot of lacing. The aroma was sweet chocolate, nuttiness, and roasted malts. the taste is complex, it starts with bitterness and slight alcohol. then you start to pick up roasted malts and some cherry and it finishes with a sweet milk chocolate aftertaste.

Can. Pours black with a generous creamy tan head. Big chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, hops and a bit of boozy burn in the aroma and taste, Top notch Imperial stout.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2014 I once shotgunned this for a gentlemanly contest of sorts but have not taken the time to properly examine it until now. For what itís worth, it is easier to shotgun than a normal American beer even though it something of a monster. Itís deep black in color, completely opaque with a small fine-bubbled head that leaves little splotches of lace for the whole glass. The nose is mostly chocolate and raisin. My can is about six months old (I purchased in June not realizing itís a winter seasonal) and it has started taking on some pleasant sherry-like oxidation at this point as well, mostly in the form of a bit of nuttiness. This is definitely a sweet beer but thereís a good bit of tartness and a lot of bitterness to balance. The end result is sort of a vinous, chocolate cherry taste. This is definitely a beer that lends itself to slow sipping and a very full body and mild carbonation. Thankfully, it also lends itself to drinking a full serving and does not cloy as it warms but rather becomes more fruity and chocolatey. The finish lingers w/ a soft sweetness and a solid bunch of bitterness. I definitely want to rate this a bit fresher sometime but it seems to be doing quite well w/ some age on it. I have to shotgun the other three in this four pack first though.
