Goodgrief (997), Middletown, Delaware, USA Apr 14, 2008 Pour was black with no immediate head. The head emerged late, was one finger and was the darkest head I’ve ever seen, only slightly lighter than the beer. The aroma was slight and bitter. The flavor was a smack in the face, huge amounts of bitter cocoa and coffee with a really strong pine presence. Some sweetness to balance but just on the edge of asking is there enough? Really hard to drink, but in a wonderful way, the boldness makes this a slow sipper. I enjoyed it more and more as I emptied my glass. Thankfully, I have 3 cans to go!
kegbear (58), Orange, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 Thanks to Glouglouburp for this bonus brew. Coffee, dark roasted malt and a bit of ash. Nice dry finish. Super thick tar black like the La Brea pits. No dead dinosaurs floating in the can however. Best beer I’ve had out of a can. Bigmmartin (137), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 25, 2008 Can thanks to dkachur! Very dark, black pour with a thick brown frothy head. Strong aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavor is more sweet roasted malt and hops. Winds down to a bitter, very dry, finish. Has a nice thick, creamy, mouthfeel though. hophead_hans (555), Bay Area, California, USA Jul 19, 2008 Can, thanks Craig. Pours a solid black with a medium brown head. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts, a bit of coffee. Very smooth on the palate with nice flavors of raosted malts, cacao, coffee and very little hops. Had a bit of a dry, ashen note to it as well. Quite good. nathan30533 (21), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA Jul 17, 2008 I would call this one a desert beer. Great tasting, you can most certainly taste the chocolate and cocoa. Overall smooth but a little bit of bubble in the mouth. Not an overwellming aroma but a good one. Looks great, taste great, overall great stout by the oskar blues guys. (Rating #1826)
