COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.

Absolutely phenomenal. If you’re tired of bitter, coffee leaning imp. stouts, this is for you. The emphasis is overwhelmingly chocolate, but never feels too sweet. The balance of bitter and sweet is so well crafted you wonder why most stouts don’t taste like this. If you ever get a chance to try this, do not pass up the opportunity, A standout from the crowd, yet incredibly familiar and comforting.

I’m not a big stout fan but this one is pretty typical of your imperial stouts. From someone who doesn’t normally drink stouts I’d drink it again so I’d give it above average ratings but not what I’d say is a "must drink" for me. Very popular stout, though, and I heard a lot of people rave about it while in Denver.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2015 Don’t get me wrong, all the weight & balance of an above average imperial stout are there in Ten Fidy, except I can’t get past a hint of Ivory bar soap throughout the whole experience. My guess it could be the can metal/lining chemical reaction effecting the brew. The hint of Ivory bar soap might not be present if Ten Fidy was glass bottled. Perhaps Oscar Blues uses aluminum cans as an excuse which is what I got in an Iceland reply to my complaint on this issue. Cans are a matter of convenience effecting taste, always has been, always will be. That Oskar Blues management guy who emailed me back from Iceland (must have been on holiday and still conducting business) used queer logic about how glass bottles are inferior to aluminum cans. I replied that’s true about green bottles only and he never responded again. Oskar Blues is all about marketing and Lefty causes when it should get it’s head on straight with a glass bottled option.
