Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Can from Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Black color with a multifinger, really dark, tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and smooth burnt malt. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet burnt malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Maybe the sweet part suggests treacle. There is a light freshness that suggests fruit, but it has bitter burnt malt as a primary. Whoa. This is an extreme amount of flavor. Finish is just great tastes.

Can...Pours a deep black hue with a big, frothy tan-brown head. Aromas of...yes....whoppers, chocolate, a touch of cream, and cooked oats..Im getting excited. Mouth feel is full bodied with a semi dry finish. Flavors of toasted oatmeal, a nice hop bitterness, but a lingering alcohol finish. Might be a little too cold right now. As it warms, the whoppers really come through. Amazing. One of the most unique impy stouts Ive had in a while ....

On tap at the Brick Store in Decatur, GA: Pours a rich opaque with a dense frothy brownish dark tan head with thin wispy lacing. Has a roasty earthy caramel and dark chocolate espresso bean malty nose. Body starts fairly full and velvety with dark caramely sweetness and a healthy dose of hoppy bitterness and roasted malt along with a ton of bittersweet dark chocolate toward a slightly thinner, smooth, lightly warming finish. Could use just a touch more sweetness for body and to balance the bitterness, but overall it’s a nice imperial stout.

Draft @ The Brick Store: The beer was an opaque black color with a huge creamy dark brown head and leaving tons of creamy brown lace around the glass. The aroma started light (the beer was on the cold side) with notes of creamy chocolate and roasted malt with light coffee notes and a touch of ash in the background. As the beer warmed the chocolate got more of a mild chocolate smell to it and even a little fruitiness. The flavor was huge like a nice smack in the mouth. Big roasted malt and dark bitter chocolate. Once again as the beer warmed it turned to more of a milk chocolate. The alcohol could almost be noticed but the big roast, chocolate and bitterness manage to keep it at bay. The mouthfeel was creamy with a moderately bitter and chocolatey finish. The glass was left stained brown when the beer was gone. They nailed this one.

On tap at Mad Mex on McKnight. Thick sweet molasses nose, with balsamic, licorice, chocolate syrup, coffee, and smoke. Light estery oily sweetness. Thick motor oil black with no head. Thick silky body with mild carbonation. Smoooth. Alcoholic warming. Great flavor - sweet malt and molasses, malted chocolate milk and coffee with bitter smoky undertones. Licorice, alcohol. Oak & vanilla. Dry bitter finish with a carbonic tangy hit. Really smooth and a tad syrupy. Roasted and toasted grains stay gooey on the palate afterwards. Very nice stout.

solid black, huge brown head, solid lace, once it warms the aroma explodes with lots of rich milk chocolate, creamy body, huge chocolate and roasted coffee flavors, well contained bitterness considering all of the roasted and coffee, the chocolate gets darker as it warms and ends up being the dominant character, a touch of alcohol fumes at the bottom of the glass, slight chalky character comes and goes,

rich dark chocolate aroma, very rich dark chocolate flavor, lots of hop and malt bitterness, touch of sour mash tartness, similar to the keg but even smoother with none of the alcohol or chalkyness,

slowly pours like oil out of the tap, strong aroma of dark chocolate and ripe fruit with a winey overtone, rich dark chocolate flavor, lots of roasted character, dark fruity character emerges, still plenty of hops to keep it hoppy yet balanced, age works well for this beer,

On Tap at KP’s. A black apperance with a dark tan head. A chocolate filled aroma with some coffee and raisins present. This reminded me a little of Expedition although not AS good. A sweet chocolate and licorice flavor was present. A very creamy finish. This would kick ass with some desert but went ok with the spicy guacamole. A nice impy stout.
