| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 15, 2009 Has to be one of my favorite beers. It’s seriously just phenomenal. Well disguised alcohol and bitterness. Pours as black as the darkest night, but has a taste much better than the night could ever have. Out of the stouts that I have tasted this one, in my book, is right behind bell’s expedition stout. neepsntatties (350), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Feb 26, 2009 Purchased a year ago from, "By The Bottle" in Vancouver, WA. But, acquired most recent can from, "hannont". Oskar Blues is showing up in the Portland, OR market; hopefully Ten Fidy is on the way! Colour... pours as black as 10W-50 that’s been in the crankcase of a San Juan Mts. Jeep for 50K miles! The head is thick, tan and frothy. Nose... cold, black coffee, cocoa mass, malt balls and hops. Palate... ohhhhhh... where to begin with this corpulent stout? Let’s start with the immensely mouth coating "texture". Yes! Texture. I figure that this is technically a solid because it’s so incredibly THICK! Flavours of darkly roasted Sumatra coffee, chocolate malts, bittersweet French chocolate, cocoa solids and plenty of hops to balance it all out. All the flavours echo brilliantly on the looooooong finish! One added note.... this stout is so well balanced, it doesn’t seem anywhere near 10%ABV; but you better stay away from the heavy machinery, nonetheless! slowrunner77 (58), reno, USA

BIG flavor of roasted, malted chocolate, hop balance. Quite good. Nice finish too. So far, every beer i’ve had from here is well over a 4...maybe the only brewery i can say that for. I’ll have to find more of their stuff...2/09 man that’s a roasty aroma...cant get much better."

Slightly sweet with a little zing. One of the best stouts yet! r1dermon (9), Massachusetts, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 24, 2009 this beer....well, first let me say that the can is soft. so you can press the sides in, unlike with a soda...the carbonation level of this beer is non-existent...more on that later. the pour from this beer reveals spent penzoil. UN-BE-LIEVABLE! and with such a lack of carbonation, you would figure...no head right? well, to my surprise, almost 2 fingers, with an admittedly, agg. pour. extremely dark head beckons the nose. aromas are of sweeeeet sweet malt, roasty, toasty, and everything in between...aroma was way above average, but wasn’t extreme, thus the 8/10 rating. this beer hits your mouth with something you’ve never tasted before. liquorice, honey, chocolate (though not as much as you’d think), ginger....this is too complex, it’s utterly incredible. the creamy mouthfeel is balanced perfectly by the carbonation, which actually does show it’s head. this is a very exciting beer. lacing is unbelievably thick and sticky all the way down. the sheer richness of this hides the 98 IBU’s incredibly well, along with the 9.5% alcohol content. overall...if you can find this beer, buy this beer...in-fact, buy 3 4 packs of it...more if you desire...this is one of the best stouts i’ve ever had in my life. draft at The Brick Store Pub in Decatur, GA. magnificent imperial stout – one of the best... a deep deep black with a nice tan head. wonderful aromas of malts and chocolate. nice full body over the palate, warming, huge chocolate presence, liquorice, and much hoppier than the average Imp Stout... the 98 IBU rating definitely shines through. huge finish that lasts for a while... I’ve heard a lot about this beer and have been really anxious to try it – this beer lives up to the hype.... Oskar Blues needs to distribute this one wider, b/c I would love to put it on a more regular schedule.
