COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.

Pours from the 12 oz. can a thick, dark viscous black (yes, just like used motor oil) with minimal tan head that quickly fades into a light collar. Iím holding it up to the brightest lamp in the room, and absolutely NONE of the light penetrates this beer! Aroma is surprisingly faint, but has hints of unsweetened dark chocolate & black coffee. 1st sip is surprisingly sweet...more dark chocolate, black coffee, malt roasted almost to the point of being "burnt", and a slight hint of smoke. On the swallow, there is a bitterness of alcohol and the the dark chocolate/coffee notes with a hint of hops. Mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and thick...the consistency of syrup or honey. Overall? Two words...simply amazing! This is the best beer I have ever had up to this point, and I want more!!!

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2013 Favorite stout. Thick and robust brew here folks. Rather smooth w mild carbonation and thick oily resin. Semi-sweet and pure joy to consume this dark as night concoction. This is a full-body and emense flavor profile yeilding hints of molasses, chicory, espresso, dark non-bittersweet chocolate and dark rum or robust bourbon.

Viscous and rich imperial stout. Pours like motor oil and drinks like coffee brown sugar goodness.

Definitely one of my favorite RIS. The 10.5 is hidden well although this beer really is as thick as oil. Probably the thickest beer Iíve had. It is like drinking an oil slick. This one ages well so set a few on their side. Nice smooth and complex brew.

Wow! Aroma has very rustic bourbon scent. Leaves a very balance palate for a bourbon barrel craft beer. This is a beer to drink in a cabin next to a fire on a icy cold day.

8oz on tap. Oh damn is this good. Wish I had some dark chocolate to enjoy with this beautifully dark beer.

Oskar Blues Ten Fidy Imperial Stout ABV: 10.5 % Calories: estimated at 200 C Volume: 12 fl oz can Glass: 4 oz stem goblet Purchased at: Circle Liquor Super Saver Price: 4.25 Consumed at: home sensory first impression: The darkest, murkiest thing Iíve seen in a glass. Like oil. The head is thin, but richly colored brown grey and tan. No light penetrates it. The aroma is chocolaty and coffee roasted nuttiness. Just a sip sends you going. What a long and luxurious taste. Affects the whole mouth. Itís sweet, menacingly bitter, and malty. Itís dark, and wholly, singularly impressive in flavor, color, depth, aftertaste, texture, and presence. One of the best beers Iíve ever tasted. Aroma: 9 out of 10 Malt is espresso coffee and dark chocolate liquor. Hops are biting and bitter. Yeast is spongey, large particles, and clayey. Other flavors include: almonds, roasted notes, smokiness, and oak. Visuals: 5 out of 5 Color is pitch black. Liquid is completely opaque. Head and lace are: thin, but well colored. The weight of this beer must be hard to behold in lace. Taste: 10 out of 10 chocolate and coffee malts, sweet in the background, a bit cloying, hoppy and bitter with a sour finish. Well balanced. Palate: 5 out of 5 Body is heavy. Mouthfeel is all areas active. Texture is oily and luscious. Carbonation is minimal. Finish is long and complicated. Overall experience: 19 out of 20. I liked everything about this beer. Itís an amazing example of the style.

...sex in a can. This beer is nearly as good as a good romp in the hay. This is the blackest beer Iíve ever had, bar none. This is one of the most viscous beers Iíve ever had as well... thick, nearly syrupy. To say this stout is a malt bomb would be an understatement... they claim thereís 98 IBUís in there, but I donít taste that...the hops are there, but they are definately smoothed over with all of the malt. This brew smacks you in the face with each flavor it offers... malt, chocolate, roasted barley, oats... somehow all of the flavors are absolutely obvious, yet they all meld together very well. Easily my favorite new stout for 2008.
