Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Thanks for the can Ernest! Blacker than Cheneys soul, dark chocolate head. Roast, deep chocolate and fig aroma. Inredible broad roast flavors - from carbon over caramel to dark chocolate. Oily mouthfeel (go figure) but in a good way. Roast and nut retronasal, the flavor on the tongue has big staying-power. Very enjoyable.

Can. The top pops on the can and not bubble comes out. The pour is like watery syrup and glossy black. There is a thin ring of dark tan cream that tells me this baby has a nice malt bill. The aroma is very heavy on the chocolate but in a very pleasant way. There is also some roast, and maybe a touch of hop bitterness. The flavor is very rich, with lots of chocolate and coffee. Really a beautiful beer.

Found this at a little beer store in Annapolis - a few cases of it tucked under a shelving unit at the back of the store! Poured dark black, not even a hint of brown or red, but a rich brown head. Aroma was hoppy, sweet, woody, chocolate, anise. Mostly thick body (a little thinner than the flavor would’ve suggested), but still a very hearty drin with plenty of malty chocolate and a bit of coffee with a woody hoppy and somewhat dry finish. It’s great that they put this in a can.

Draught: Aroma of piney hops, chocolate, roasted malts, hops, and malted-milk. Poured pitch black in color with a small, dark brown head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Excellent lacing. Medium sweet, medium bitter flavor. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, light alcohol, piney hops, cream, roasting, oats, and malted milk. Medium to full body. Thick, creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Creamy chocolate and pine-hop finish. Very smooth.

This rating is out of the growler from kp (I’m pretty sure) shared at Dark Lord Day. I actually got to take the rest of the growler home, so I’m drinking it right now too. This is a black beer with only hints of brown when held up to the light. This coats the glass with a syrupy brown liquid. The head was really just an oily whispy slick. Big nose of fudgey chocolate, coffee with caramel and whipped cream in it, and some green hops. Coffee, bitter chocolate, molassess, oak, vanilla, and roasted grain. The finish tends to end in bitter coffee. Very nice beer that I wish I could try at the source.

Growler at Noogfest III. This was my last review at Noogfest III, and unlike previous years, I can read it and actually remember drinking and enjoying the beer. Hooray self control! At any rate, This stuff is good. Lots of coffee and chocolate throughout, in both aroma and flavor. Very smooth, very viscous. Chocolate dominates as it warms. Really good.

Can. Known more appropriately as the beer that may kill me. I’m drinking a ton of this stuff. Normally I’d not put this much imperial stout down my throat on a regular basis, but for some reason I can’t stop drinking these. Pours pretty much black with a very uneven and rocky brown head. Aroma is full of chocolate and malt with a fair amount of roastiness. Flavor has hints of coffee, tons of cocoa, chocolate, and roasted malt flavors. Finish packs a nice bitter punch and an alcohol warmth. A fairly creamy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation coming through in the end. I love it.

Can thanks to CaptainCougar. Pitch black pour with nice sized frothy thick brown head. Nose of roasted coffee, malt and a touch of bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is slightly toasted hints of nuts, big with chocolate and a nice espresso finish. Texture is perfect with a nice creamy finish that has a nice touch of hops.
