This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.

It’s odd actually pouring beer from a can! I’m used to slamming PBR and never seeing what comes out of the mouth so seeing this thick sludge flowing was an odd experience. Poured the black liquid vigorously into a Duvel Tulip (thick enough that it didn’t splash at all!) creating a deep brown thick, creamy head. Black body that light has no chance getting through. Awesome aromas of chocolate, coffee and tobacco. Flavor is wonderful! I had no idea this was almost 100 IBU because there was SO much malt. Incredible! Mouth feel was thick like cough syrup and hid the alcohol surprisingly well. A damn good beer that I wish I had while it was -20 degrees outside. Hopefully it cellars until next winter.

Obscure black. Dried fruit nose. Coffee flavour with a hint of cocoa, some sweetness & a silk mouthfeel. A straight drinking RIS with no messing about. Rated by BrewTom

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can, Brewdog Leicester. Black with a beige head. Oily and earthy with peppery, marzipan alcohol. Creamy dark chocolate with berries. Rich coffee with vanilla oak barrel and brown sugar. Some hints of soy sauce with toffee. Boozy, warming, damned good.

Can. It pours a dark oil black with a fluffy tan head. The aroma is dark chocolate, berries, licorice, coffee and vanilla. The flavor is intense with the roasted malts and dark chocolate flavors dominating. The alcohol is present early on but the finish is smooth.

Can from Beltramo’s in Menlo Park, CA. Aroma is chocolate fudge brownies. Taste is the same with some very mild bitterness. This is ALMOST, JUST BARELY, MAYBE too sweet. But it’s not. Very smooth.

Canette 355ml, gracieuseté de Beervana lors du CanBIF Spring 2015, Thanks Cameron! Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka foncée riche et crémeuse laissant une dentelle aérée, huileuse. Arôme de malt torréfié, mélasse, chocolat noir, espresso, alcool, légère touche fumée. Goût de malt torréfié, chocolat noir, café, sucré, alcool, amertume efficace. Carbonatation moyenne-faible, corps dense, crémeuse.

Sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, toffee, licorice. Pitch black. Wow. So smooth, velvety with great carbonated alcohol bite. Warm it up and it?s another dimension.

Can. Pours a deep dark black/brown, thick, with a fluffy off white head. Aroma comes out as strong coffee, baking chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Flavor follows suit with tons of bitter coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, and vanilla. Some alcohol burn present too. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation, and a bitter boozey finish. I’d go a little higher on this if the alcohol presence was hidden a little better.
