Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

can from the wooden keg. This company is gaining momentum in my area and the ten fidy is a reason why. Pours solid black with burnt red edges. nice thick head with big brown bubbles. smells sweet and roasted. taste is dark chocolate, hickory, coffee and oats. great beer all around looking forward to another 4pack.

Can. The top pops on the can and not bubble comes out. The pour is like watery syrup and glossy black. There is a thin ring of dark tan cream that tells me this baby has a nice malt bill. The aroma is very heavy on the chocolate but in a very pleasant way. There is also some roast, and maybe a touch of hop bitterness. The flavor is very rich, with lots of chocolate and coffee. Really a beautiful beer.

These are right up there with the beers from Surly in terms of things I enjoyed most from a can. The color of the pour is right on, although I found the level of carbonation to be a bit extreme and to compromise the quality of the beverage a bit. Notes of rum-soaked cherries and port blend with semisweet chocolate, oatmeal, and cocoa powder. There’s a viscous mouthfeel and a solid warming finish that shows it’s alcohol just a bit too well. Overall this is an excellent imperial stout, albeit one without all of the complexity of a Surly Darkness of FFF Dark Lord.

I am a big Imperial Stout fan and I felt this was lacking something. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very good beer, but missing that first rate dark malty flavor that would push this over a 4.0 rating.

This is the only Oskar Blues I’ve ever had...and found it by accident at Brickskeller in DC. A thick black pour, with a slightly thin head. The presence of alcohol is definitely displayed, but nicely camouflaged under the pleasant taste of smokey chocolate and coffee. A sweet bittery finish, but not overwhelming.

355 mL can. Black, with a medium-sized brown head. The aroma is not as strong as I expected, and consists of sweet chocolate, roast, and a touch of citrus hops. In the flavour there is an initial hit of alcohol, then lots and lots of roast, then dark chocolate, followed by maraschino cherry syrup, and finally a slight astringency. Some hop btterness in the finish. Incredibly smooth and creamy. I love these guys.
