Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

A- Pours a dark black hue letting very little light through. Deep reddish brown head which is absolutely decadent. S- Smell consists of roasted malt and coffee. A bit faint. T- Taste is predominately roasted malt, deep brown sugar notes, coffee. M- Thick with medium carbonation. D- This was a pretty tasty imperial stout. Not my favorite but it looks great and is very solid.

Can from Village Beer Merchant in Buffalo. Pours an opaque black body with a short lived medium sized brown head. Some light lacing. Aroma is sweet candy, chocolate, booze, wine, and some roasted malts. Flavor is mocha, vanilla, slight coffee with sweet malts. A bit cloying sweet caramel finish. Super smooth, full bodied. Alcohol is noticable but not overbearing. Another really good canned beer from OB.

Can (Sept 2009). Black and thick with a dark ominous looking brown head. Rich roasted almost burnt malts with a somewhat understated chocolate and coffee flavor.

Nose is chocolate with some dark fruits. Pitch black, nice milky coffee head. Creamy, lightly carbonated but just right. Chocolate up front, with tons of roasted malt and a surprisingly robust hop profile. Some citrus, some pine cone notes. Insanely drinkable. Very good beer.

Poured from a 12oz. can into a stemmed glass. The color is a dark black with a slight brownish head that did not last. No lacing so far. The smell is a little chocolate syrup flavor. It has a pretty strong caramel flavor with a bit of a peppery flavor. The taste is is dark chocolate with creamy notes. Some hints of licorice with some espresso flavor and toffee. The feel is medium bodied that is pretty surprising for an Imperial stout but it is the first that I have had a can. It does down easy and has a limited aftertaste.

This viscous, thick, chewy dose of roasted malt and chocolate is quite possibly one of the finest brews that I have tried. Inky black as it drains from the 12 oz. can, this is as dark as a black hole as no light can penetrate it. Wonderfully hoppy but balanced by the enormous malt flavour. Not only a great winter beer, this may breed some great recipes in the future. Desert anyone?

Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, hazelnuts, and a bit of something herbal. Mint perhaps. Flavor is moderately bitter and boozy. The coffee lingers on the palate. Thick and smooth mouthfeel, just a bit astringent. A very good stout.

From a can poured black with a small brown head. Toasted malty sweet flavor with a lingering finish.
