3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 11, 2015 Tasted from can at Flossmoor?s pre-DLD day, 5/9/08. "The darkest beer in a can," someone said. Guinness, maybe? Anyway, I?m tasting this right after a swig of Peche Mortel, the only thing that this would taster "lighter" than. A tad sweeter than your imperial type beers. Shows nice character of coffee and milk chocolate to make the alcohol burn a little easier going down. Ends up tasting like a big sip of coffee-flavored syrup.
2012 can, poured 4/11/15. Warm Bourbon nose during the pour. Once settled in the goblet, some slightly roasted black malt smell, but alcohol keeps it from being overly bitter. Viscous texture makes this a prime beer for sipping. A bit of syrupy stickiness on the lips. A bit more roasty on the tongue, even a bit of hop bitterness for a beer that I’ve been able to keep in the fridge for all of the 3 years I’ve had it. Still, a slight tinge Much better from a full can than sampled with many others.

Man I love this. Pours jet black with 1 finger dark brown head. Lots of lacing. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, raisins. First sip, amazing velvety mouthfeel! I mean soo silky. Lots of chocolate caramel, coffee, vanilla. Just really a damn good stout. Sweet but not cloying.

Never knew a can this small could hide a beer this big. Intense from the first sip. Aromas of strong boozy chocolate, leather, and a little coffee. Notes of coffee and warm booze hits you with such sweetness you can not hold back a smile. Let it warm up to get more chocolate. All in all an amazing stout to savour and sip.

This is not a beer, this is an experience. Pours inky with a big brown head (looks like chocolate) and a moderate sweet mocha-chocolate nose. Flavor is enormously rich and presents an exception mix of both heft and smoothness. Coffee, milk chocolate, bread, and even a touch of cream all come out in the flavor. Despite the near 100 IBU, there is nothing bitter or abrasive here, though it’s quite huge in flavor. Wheew, good, good stuff.

More than merely opaque, this sucks the surrounding light out of the room. Taste so smooth and wonderful, it feels like a natural part of you. I drink only stouts, and I'm hard to please; I will drink this often, to remind myself of what a stout is supposed to taste like.

On tap at Oskar Blues. Big thick dark body. Huge roasty chocolate, leather aroma. Just as big of a taste. Big, almost tobacco like flavor. Lots of roasted chocolate.
