4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can into pint (from my notes): Pours like motor oil, head slowly emerges; interesting sliding racing/lacing. Smells like creamy, buttery, roasty chocolate, with other caramelly malts in there, and occassionally a fruity smell that reminds me of raspberries. Full and smooth in the mouth like Bells Expedition, and tastes like it at first but . . . then the hops and roastiness kick in on the end, and wow; they’re amazing. Full, kick-your-ass flavor -- this is the hoppiest stout I can remember tasting. I don’t even know how it tastes like this with the high gravity and creamy mouthfill, the amount of hops they must have used. The finish totally eliminates the saliva in my mouth in dry and bitter goodness. Overall, while the wallop of this beer is impressive, it got taxing to finish it. A good can of beer to share with friends, because you could use the help.

Can as a Valentines gift from Pix. Pours pitch black with a beige head. Aroma of coffee and liquorice. The taste is fairly spicy with lots of coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Lingering bitter finish. Rich and delicious. Nice creamy mouthfeel with the carbonation just right.

The nose is imeadiately sweet, chocolate with coffee jupming out! The inviting smoothness of the malty velvet mouthfeel is extraordinary. Somewhere along the line oats do seems to poke through, but mostly the roasted taste permeates enjoyably. Amazing.

Tap in Brewdog. (£4+ for a third of a pint) Initial sip is v nice. But after that the alcohol just becomes overwhelming, killing any enjoyment. Bit of an ordeal trying to finish it...

smells rich creamy and chocolatey, pitch black with no head, tastes as it smells with slight bitter bite to stop it becoming to cloying, a little too carbonated for a top mark but very good with no hint of its strength.

Can from HomeBrewStuff. Black and inky, thick foamy dark tan head. Instant chocolaty aroma, smell the roast malt. Tons of bitterness in the flavor, lots of bite, lingers for quite some time. Alcohol warmth stays through from first taste to finish. Oily, slick and slippery. High quality brew.

Can, 2012 vintage, thnx to bytemesis. Pours a deep black beer with a big beige head on top. Aroma had loads of roasted malts, touches of coffee, licorice and sweet caramel notes. Flavor is very sweet, loads of molasses and sweet caramel. Full bodied, nice carbonation. Awesome, nice complexity, long, bittersweet aftertaste. Awesome brew.
