UPDATED: DEC 27, 2011 Can. The pour was a deep dark muddy black with a very thin (less than 1 finger) medium brown creamy head that was fully diminishing and had excellent lacing. The aroma was of burnt cereal malts and a leathery doughy yeast with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, molasses and also had a mild alcohol scent. It tasted sweetly bitter with a moderate note of coffee at first and finished with a nice smooth bitter chocolate coffee flavor and had a slight alcohol tinge at the end. The flavor stayed with you for a nice long while after the swallow allowing one to enjoy a nice coffee mocha ending. Mouthfeel was quite full in body and very creamy in texture with basically a flat carbonation. Overall a GREAT Imperial stout, with lots of flavor and hardly any notice to the high alcohol content.

Keg at Brewdog Brum. Lovely warming qualities. It’s black. It has a slim, beige top and same colorised lacing. Taste is Baltic, with dry dark choc and some liqueur infused Quality Street. It’s really good. Or more than PRIDY good.

Snifter draft at Harold’s Inn and Restaurant in Hopewell, PA. Heavy chocolate and tastes of oak. A nice deep brown to black on appearance. Runs to the sweet side with a bitter finish.

Very bitter but not a long aftertaste for a nice dark stout. No head and strong alcoholic flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black. Nose is dry chocolate, coffee, syrup, roast. Taste is mocha, burnt caramel, date, licorice, some hops. Finishes with some alcohol warmth. Flavors are huge and it’s quite dry and drinkable for the style.

It’s really good, but the almost burnt malt is a bit much. If it had a bit of dark fruit, plum/prune, I would give it closer to a perfect score. Pours great with great coffee look and cola-like foam head. Aromas of dark chocolate and roasted/burnt malts. Some slight hoppiness in there gives a nice spruce hint---but you really have to be sensitive to get even a whiff of it. Overall very nice but just falls short of perfection. I need to get one of the barrel aged versions, so maybe my local supplier will be able to get more...?

This has to be one of the best widely available Imperial stouts. Pours with a nice dark head that quickly dissipates. Coffee strong, full bodied without being too syrupy. Little hop on the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
