sayravai (3037), Helsinki, Finland May 18, 2008 (Canned) Extremely black with a small, but lasting, brown head. Aroma of roasted coffee, salty licorice, no alcohol. Very smooth, very licoricey, very coffee-malty flavor with milky sourness, but not much burnedness. Medium to full-bodied, moderately bitter palate with soft carbonation. A very smooth and balanced Impy with no alcohol flavor and the blackest color possible.

I definitely wowed some friends pouring this amazing beer from a can. Pours motor oil black with a thick, mocha colored head. Smells of dark chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Taste is very similar with a majority coming from the chocolate and roasted malt taste and then a hint of coffee. The mouthfeel is very thick and expected of an RIS. The alcohol is hidden very well in the smell and taste for a 10%ABV beer thus it is pretty drinkable but I can’t see having more than a couple in a session.

Pours black, no light comming through, with a chocolate head....Very strong aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is very nice, strong dark roast and chocolate with a bitter of a good IIPA. Palate is heavy, full body with low carbonation. Over all, a very tasty beer.... enginaaron (58), San Diego, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 Alright, so any beer that comes in a ALUMINUM CAN isn’t exactly on my "to-taste" list... so when this arrived from a friend I wasn’t the biggest fan. But it’s good stuff! GREAT roasted flavors with lots of creamy vanilla and chocolate. EXTREMELY thick (I would love to know what it’s FG is, gotta be huge) and pours tremendously dark with a dark tan head that is rich with aroma and flavor.
All I know is that when I see this in the stores, can or bottle, I’m buying it! AmEricanbrew (907), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 16, 2008 Pitch black with a brown head. Mild blackened malt aroma with some grassy hops. Full body with light carbonation. Big flavors of dry black malts and tobacco at first, then a nicely bitter, dryish grassy hop and alcohol twang to finish. Reminds me of Gonzo porter. blipp (675), Grand Island, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 Can. Pours near black with a brown head. Roasted aroma, a touch of sweetness and coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Roasted flavor with coffee, raisin, and a grassy hop finish. Very nice.
