Pour on tap at Avery Strong Ale 2012, dark reddish pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of oak, red grape, hints of tannic grape skin, some slight caramel and bready malts, touch of grass as well, this was definitely overtaken by the wine. Taste is thinned out but a fairly nice oak and lactic character, hints of dark fruits, caramel in there, touch of spice and earthy notes, tannic and slightly sour. Interesting.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
At Avery’s 2012 Strong Ale Fest. Murky dark copperish gold with a thin white head. Nice aroma of white wine with a roasty caramalt aroma with a slight oakiness. Flavor has some wine oak booziness and tartness with the good ol caramalt maltiness and floral hop of the G’Knight coming through. Kinda acidic and too oaky though...

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Cloudy, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Tangy, tart, lightly fruity, vinous, a touch spicy, hoppy aroma. Weird, tart, organic hoppy, bready malty, fruity, vinous flavor that seems all over the map.
