4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is dark fruits and a bit of booze. Very thin light head with minimal lacing. Pours a very dark brown. Not the flavor bomb I expected given itís an imperial porter with coffee and vanilla, but damn is this nice. Definitely serve this at cellar temp, itís WAY better as it warms from the fridge. Their claim of this beer being "masterfully blended" is not a false one. Light vanilla flavors give way to subtle coffee notes. Great balance; no flavor is overpowering. There is a solid imperial porter background but again, not pronounced. While I typically like in your face beers, this one still impresses me. Mouthfeel is thin, easy to drink with very little carbonation. Overall a great beer, in my opinion.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle picked up in Madison last weekend. Dark brown pour, certainly on the thinner side. Nice tan head. Really awesome nose on this: Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee with a big vanilla nose. Light on the mouthfeel with coffee notes and vanilla - slight astringency on the backend.

Bottle @ home. Thanks, Jake. Black pour with a finger of so of tan foam. Decent coffee aroma to this. Some dark chocolate, licorice, and raisin. Kind of ashy, though, particularly as it warms. Flavor has some mild toffee sweetness, but a lot of bitter roast, ash, and coffee grounds. Kind of some green apple and bell pepper, too.

Brown pour, tan head. Nose is coffee, sort of funky, seems like it could be infected. Taste is coffee, vanilla beans, chocolate. Medium mouthfeel.

Lots if vanilla. Touch of coffee. Has a hint of bourbon in there. Body is a bit thin but this doesnít seem as strong as your typical imperial.

750 ml bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of coffee, roastiness and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of coffee, roastiness, earthiness and light caramel with a crisp dry lingering coffee finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle from Rays in Tosa. Pours a very very dark brown with a foamy brown head. Not much lacing. Aroma is super roasty, very green, with chocolate, caramel, alcohol and espresso. Taste is of super smooth sweet choco/caramel and tons of roast. Roasty enough to stay balanced, as it continued to seem to want to get oversweet lactose-y, but the roast held it off. (and the converse, where the greenness of the beans was stopped from being too bitter by the chocolate). Full bodied with a touch of alcohol. Finishes terrifically in that fine balance between bitter and sweet. An excellent offering!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL bottle. Poured clear, deep brown with a creamy cocoa head. The aroma picked up lots of sweeter, roasty coffee and vanilla with accents of milk chocolate syrup and light, toasted brown rice.. malty warmth on the back of the nose.. decadent. The flavor found syrupy cocoa, molasses, and coffee malts at the core with touches of rye, light herbal hops, and coffee roast around.. finished with a lot of tacky, roasted black malts and a final kicker of coffee. Medium-bodied with high-ish carbonation.. lots of sweetness throughout, but it finished dry.. solid, but not spectacular.
