Our imperial stout aged in brandy barrels for five months. This beer symbolizes the fight that small breweries have to go through in order to get established in a market poisoned with greedy distributors, corporate idealism and fat cats with deep pockets. The small guy can still survive if they have enough true grit and work ethic. Feel the anger.

750 ml. Bottle pour. Thanks Madvike! Pitch black with almost no tan head. Light brandy, a little burn. This is a big boy. Would like to try it after cellaring it for a coup,e years.

Smoke was significant, with some cherry and brandy in the finish. Had a few hours later and smoke eased off. Something different. Bottle from last summer trip.

750ml bottle from Ray’s in Tosa. Cellar aged 4 months and served at cellar temp. Cola colored pour with a beige head. Aroma has grapey sweet brandy, big cocoa, caramel and vanilla. Taste is of sweet cocoa, brandy, bakers chocolate, caramel with some roast. Medium to maybe full bodied, lowly carbonated. The blend is solid, with some alcohol presence. Finishes more sweet than bittersweet, led by the brandy. Tasty interesting effort. The chocolate/grapey brandy blend is seldom seen. 14.4

Sweet, chocolaty aroma gives way to a full-bodied stout that reveals its brandy-barrel finishing in the sweet taste and aftertaste. A very heavy beverage that’s especially weighty on draft in O’so’s Plover Tap House.

Bottle pours thick black with beautiful thick tan head, Roasty aroma with a little brandy and oak. Taste roast malts with cocoa and a little oak. others have felt this was barrel forward - I got a good amount of oak but not much liquor. Nice thick creamy palate. Finish roast and oak. Just not to the level of the top barrel aged stouts but OK.

Bottle: Pitch black center, only a sliver of dark brown at the very edges. Well-retained, light-tan head on top. Big aroma full of alcohol, vanilla, oak, brandy sweetness, licorice, burnt brown sugar, faint syrup, bitter chocolate, & a strong waft of overripe dark fruits in the back-end. Flavor leads with sugar coated plums & figs, followed by a strong sweetness that couples with flavors of anise, licorice, bittersweet cocoa, & molasses. Huge barrel presence, lots of wood & booze. The booze seems almost more like bourbon than brandy. Hints of some vanillin, black cherry, & dark chocolate malt are there, too. Anise, licorice, wood, maple, & bourbon are the biggest survivors in the aftertaste. A heavy ass stout, no doubt.

Old brew, aged nicely. Very much barrel forward, very smooth and easy-goign.

Bottle shared by drowland, thanks Danny! Pours a really dark brown with a thin light brown head, the aroma has quite a bit of the bourbon coming through and that hides most of the chocolate and vanilla notes, the flavor has mostly bourbon on the front end with some vanilla sweetness in the finish, thick mouthfeel, was hoping for a little more out of this one but I still enjoyed it.

3/4/13. 750mL discovered in a random tub in the aftermath of RBWG... thanks, whoever! Shared with cbfobes. Deep brown pour, not quite black, with plenty of reds under a small khaki head that I had to work for and it was still loose and soapy and didn’t last. I can smell the sweet booziness before I even raise the glass, but not necessarily in a bad way. Sweet grapey booziness in the aroma with acidic ash, barrel, alcohol, and some sort of almost off-putting almost oxidized aspect. Rich sweet grapey flavor, almost tart, with an ashy roast kick, and lingering bitter roast. Nice.
