3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle) Pours a clear gold color with a very thin white head. Nose holds a lot of fruity smells such as honeydew melon, strawberry, peach, orange, and pineapple. Flavor holds some canned mandarin orange, clementine, strawberry, and grapefruit that overrides a subtle malt sweetness. This sweetness quickly falls off in the finish as an overwhelming bitterness lives up to the beer’s namesake, and it gets to be too much for my liking as it takes on a medicinal note. Mouthfeel is medium and the carb is dialed in. Overall this is a decent beer. I really enjoyed the aroma, but did not particularly care for the whoopin’ that the hops put on my tastebuds in the finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a nice dissipating white head. Nose is like a bowl of fresh citrus, mainly grapefruit. Taste is sweet grapefruit with nice bitterness, full of flavor. Finish is dry and ends with fresh bitter sweet citrus. A very nice IPA. Quaff Score 8 / 10

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to Chi, brought back from WI. Pour is a light hazy burnt orange, with a really dense slightly off white head that lasts and lasts, leaving beautiful lacing in its wake. Aroma is somewhat muted by this dense cap of foam, but when it’s released, it’s really, really nice. Huge grapefruit pitch, lots of resiny pine, floral and herbal notes. Grassy, without being vegetal. Just a massive amount of citrus blasts out of the glass with each swirl. Taste is more piney, with just a touch of lightly caramelized malt backing, but really not much else but hops. Long bitter finish, nice carbonation level. Really one of the better IPA’s I have had in a long time! Thanks again Chi!

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy yellow color with a modest, white foamy head. Aroma has a solid mix of resin and citrus hops nose with a modest amount of strong grassy hops at the end. Flavor starts off a bit off and I am not sure what flavors are creating it but the best I can describe it is kinda weedy(?). After this subsides, some mild citrus grapefruit, pineapple and light pine sneak in before some slightly toasted malt presence kicks in at the very end. Light/modest body, low carbonation, oily presence on top of the beer when light hits it (actually get the oil slick look to it). Overall a good brew but not as good as their other hopped brews. Seems to be a bit rough at the start with some flavors not melding as well as they should. Still a good, enjoyable brew.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
[Bottle--old rating] Pours hazy orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, candied grapefruit, some grass, rubber, and sulfur notes. Taste is sweet, moderate to mild bitterness, fair amount of alcohol, some peach, rounded grapefruit, and a good deal of malt at the end. Full mouthfeel, smooth, good length finish. Overall, too syrupy and not my thing.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Guest tap at Lunar. A hop lozenge to be sure but something very sharp about the hops, some strange vegetable tastes too. I don’t mean to sound like it was bad just something was a little off about it. Serving: Tap

I love a good hop whoopin as much as the next guy, but am just not sold on O’so’s versions of it.
Sure, it’s excessive and intense and all those other words on the label. . . but does it make me want to drink it? Does it have a resiny taste so unique I have to have one every once in a while.
No to all of those. Just a ton of bitterness. Probably the most interesting flavor is a pretty good blast of a fresh cut grass that hit me somewhere in the first couple sips, but all in all the brute force and lack of subtlety or complexity here just makes less appealing to me than many other "extremely hoppy beers."
Best example is the aroma. Just nothing there for me, which seems like a felony considering the amount of hops being used.
